    Ryan Tannehill....Very impressive first impression.

Dude came out confident, definitely carrying some swagger, {which comes from already knowing the offense}Telling people what to do, and from a pure talent perspective, displaying the most talented QB skills we've had here since Dan, and its not even close..The ball hit the ground three times, and that's because of legit drops by his receivers...3 TIMES..Yes, he did it in shorts, and in 7 on 7's, also 11 on 11's, but the top 10 talent was evident, and he did not dissapoint..Trajectory, will not be an issue at this level, if you can't catch his throws, then you don't belong in the NFL as a receiver, I seriously can't believe I watched a former receiver in college display that kind of talent at QB, now I don't yet if he has the mental part of the game, and we all know that part of the equation is most important, buy my goodness does he have the other stuff..I will keep going back to him during this post giving some details on him, because I literally couldn't keep my eyes off him, and he did things throughout the practice that impressed me.

During college, what I saw was a QB that had this overall ability from a physical standpoint that really was hi level stuff, the combination of throwing talent and athleticism is deserving of a high 1st round pick, but what scared me were these bonehead throws he would make from time time to time, almost like he would see it develop, he would look at it, and not recognize how impossible the throw was, or how bad the receiver was in position..It scared me, however, with what I saw today, and what i've seen out of the other two, I believe were gonna have a QB competition..CK was right when he hypothesized about what if?, what if the kid came in and displayed the goods, with a sense of confidence?.. Oh he did that, and imo, he just made the coaches stand at attention..Their gonna have to rethink this one I believe.

    We in pads 2maro?..

This is how I recorded it, thoughts to print..

Koa misi is in shape son..so much quicker..

7 on 7's..no pressure on the QB, clear lanes..

Matt Moore..Play action, in rhythm, throws over the linebacker, in front of SS, deep out, 25 yard play..really nice play...

Tannehill to thigpen, checkdown, ypa at 5 yards, complete.

Moore, play action, check down, complete, dansby all over it..3 yard gain.

Tannehill to Egnew, 7 yard out..complete.

Moore, throws to Naanee, quick curl, 7 ypa, Rishard Marshall jumps the route..incomplete, good coverage.

Tanny to Marlon Moore, coverage was excellent but the throw by the rookie was better, I saw him see the tight coverage and throw the ball in a different spot where only the receiver could get it..Timing on point, in stride, complete.7 yard slant.

Moore to Clay..15 yard crossing route..complete..good play, good catch, Clay adjusts.

Tanny..beautiful pass, deep out 20 yards..didn't see the receiver who caught it...rope son..perfect placement..The theme of the day..you'll see later.

Moore to NL 3 yard very quick out..They do a lot of these, and I think its fo 3rd and short reasons.[tired of misspelling his name..don't wanna piss of the Mr. Clean.

Tanny to Fuller...Checkfown to Fuller..Pitch and catch..nice ball placement.

Devlin to Rishard Matthews..15yard curl..good timing and ball placement.

Garrard to Bess..15 yard sideline out pattern..Garrard had to put touch on it over the linebackers head, he did, great touch..nice play.

Devlin to les brown...Nice pass..complete..10 yard curl..

Garrard to Pruitt. pitch and catch..

horn.. Players run to their positions..Players break into 4 groups..All four groups doing dummy tackling drills..including oline and QBs...I'm serious. 91 players tacking dummies at once.

Vontae and SS working on Punt block team..

The dolphin Bandits in the house..you may never see me again...joinin the bandits..That one tall skinny dude is cool though, he doesnt say stupid sh*&..

QB'S off on the far side, no drills, just talkin..

Clemons and Rubberman, on the side doing light drills..Clemons has added size to his frame..Rubberman hasn't.

Our linebacker coach is loud, and coaches fast..Gets in Kadus *** for a bit..

    Guyton is a big dude..

    Horn..drills...man on man coverage.

Tanny showing conscienscous ball placement..In the drill Tanny gets the first big roar..Throws a shoulder fake, corner bites, Lamar on a wheel route, 40 yards downfield, perfect..

Comes back, tight end beats his man down the deep seam, Tannehill sees it, overthrows..first time the ball hit the ground for him.

Fuller executes my favorite receiver play in the game...Steve Smith is the master, it requires great talent, few can execute, Fuller just did it. Its a back shoulder type play, but the receiver launches his body against his momentum, periouttes in the air, catches high, and taps the feet in bounce, full 360 from start to finish.

Tannehill to Les brown. deep curl..perfect placement and velocity...ooos and aahhhs of the crowd, dude is puttin on a diplay in drills..

Tannehill in tightcoverage, showing serious ball placement skills..completes three more in a row..

    devlin hangin in there..

Tannehill to Jarvorski Lane, seam route, 25 yards downfield, Tanny drops it in the bucket over the coverage..

Lane is in very good condition, and he can move.

horn..11 on 11, full pads, here we go.

Moore, first team..LN, Chad with Clay in slot, Martin and Hicks on the right side..Rollout checkdown to Bush 4 yards.

Tanny with 2nd team..J lane, splits wide, comes in motion, leads the block for thigpen who picks up 7..Lane just killed somebody..I heard the helmet pop...Really cool play.

Tanny, playaction, turns around, and Olivier is there for the sack..OV shedded his player and made the play.

Fight on the field quickly broken up..

Miller slices and dices for a big run..

Thomas handoff, goes left, defense smothers

Miller with a 2 yard gain..

    D Thomas with a 5 yard gain..

Trenton Hughes with a good play in coverage, didn't fall for the pump fake by garrard, made the play

Tanny to IDN, makes a nice throw on a quick out.

Tanny rools right, throw to thigpen following him, 7 yards.

Tanny thows to Pruitt, on a curl, Pruitt turned the wrong way, Tannehill walks up to him, tells him to turn the other way..Still completed the pass.

Lamar Miller.nice run in traffic.feet are moving.

Vernon blows up another run play behind the LOS.

    horn..

Moore to noone..Starks beat his man on the inside and would of killed Moore.

Tanny to Someone on a deep back shoulder, with pressure in his face, beautiful throw...way before the receiver turned.

Moore, wakes blows up a sweep..dances a bit.

Moore to hates, incomplete, Moore tried to aim the ball, inaccurately.

Yanny drops..Linebacker blitz, free run at the QB, Yanny dips down to sell the playaction, doesn't see it coming, Lamar Miller steps up, and takes on the linebacker stiff, could hear the pop, his coach with a bum slapper Tanny with the bum slapper..Excellent play.

Tanny to Ryan Mccaffey, little fullback out, complete, good placement..

Lamar with the run inside, gets stripped, turnover..

    Moore with a bad throw..

Garrad, with a deep sideline fade, 6 points over VD..nice play..perfect throw.

Garrard to Chad out route..timing is good, well executed.

Devlin to Pruitt..good ball, 12 yards..

Garrard goes deep to IDK, incomplete..

    Reggie tweaks something....shakes it off.

Jacques smith beats his man for the sack

Garrard to Johnson, 12 yard curl..against an all out blitz, Garrard shifted right, and delivered the strike, Chad also read the blitz and cut off his route...good play.

Tanny.. points to the backer..Westerman with the sack, didn't see who he beat.

Tanny with a checkdown, good ball placement, Tanny runs to Hogan, tells him he ran the wrong route, but I completed it to your *** anyway..I think he says..lol.

horn..Punt drills..Bush, gates, Bess, and Thigpen....Wouldn't mind at all to see Reggie win that job.

Tanny to Les brown, stepped up and drilled the throw..

Moore to noone, Solai with the sack.

Moore to Johnson on a reverse pitch..RJ blows that shKJ up..very nice read and play.

    Tanyy checkdown to fuller..5 yards.

Moore to noone, Cam beats Martin clean, Moore down..

Pitch out to thomas, RJ blows it up behind the LOS.

Garrard, Thomas flexed wide, coverage is tight, tucks it and runs for little gain.

Tanny to Hogan, 15 yard out pattern, Tanny threw it perfectly, velocity on the ball made the corner look silly on his attempt to deflect, hogan snatched it and was able to have room to turn upfield..nice play.

Garrard to Bush, 7 yard crosser, both had to buy time.

Tanny to thigpen, Tanny looks strait downfield, last second turns and throws a swing pass to thigpen, perfect placement...Shows good technique on the play..Play works because he holds the backers.

Garrard to noone..gets caught in traffic..throws blindly..I think he is a bit shorter than people think.

Tannehill to pruitt, quick out 7 yards, good timing..

Horn..Its ridiculous how accurate and in control Tanny has been in his first practice...The unprescedence of coming to the pros with your college offensive system is showing itself..

Clemons had addes good size to his frame..kid is much bigger since he came into the league.

Tanny to Messam, drop..hit him in the facemask.

    7on 7's.

Daniel thomas showing good technique, sharp cuts..

Tanny to Wallace, drop.. 7 crossing route in the breadbasket.

RJ jumps a checkdown, breaks up the pass from Garrard.

Moore to Clay, 35 yard seam route for 6, good touch , good play.

Garrard to pruitt, 7 yard yps, complete.

Devlin rolls right, overthrow to Wallace, 15 yps.

Garrard to NL, 6 yard ypa complete.

Tanny to IDK, 15 yard out..good play.

    Tyron Culver jumps a slant.inc.

Tanny just thrown darts man.Hit another.

2min drill now, with crowd noise pumped in..

Moore to Gates..VD jumps the slant, Gates gives up on the play, DB drops the pick.

Moore to Bush up the middle..5 yards, good push by pounce.

Moore to Johnson, Smith cuts in front of Chad, drops the pick.

Moore hands off to thomas, executes a very nice jump cut, accelerates out of it for 7...nice play..The man is lighter and quicker...no doubt.

    Handoff to lane..4 yards.

Moore to johnson..SS suffocates the slant, inc..gets hyped.

Moore to pruitt...Vontae with excellent coverage on the deep curl, inc.

    DG..Rolls out right, inc.

DG scrambles, throws to Matthews, 8 yard curl. complete.

DG to to Fuller..Kid ran the deep slant in a lot of traffic, which is something he did beautifully yesterday as well.. Perfect balance in his running motion, still head allows him to see the ball in, hand catch 22 yard gain..very good play.

DG hands off to thigpen..2 yards..

DG to Matthews on a deep fade..JUST OOB..good catch though.

Tanny up..Play action, rolls right, Fuller covered, inc.

Tanny to LN, checkdown, 7 yards.

Tanny tries to throw the seam route...throws it inc..bad pass.

Tanny starts barking fake counts..gotta nice loud voice, drops, throws a shoulder fake, throws the out, bobble bu cuaught, 7 yards..

Tanny, play action, 10 yard out, perfect placement..really sold the fake, very good ball handler on his fakes.

    Horn...Practice ends..

The lovefest begins..fans kids, and girls calling his name for auto's...work is not done yet.

Players leave..Middle of field, Tanny and Reggie Bush..start throwing some routes.Tanny gives him the route, reggie runs it, ball doesn't hit the ground.Theme of the day.

Garrard comes over, gettin some extra reps..Now you have Tanny, Bush, Garrard, Chad, devlin, Bess and Jeff Fuller..

You guys are gonna love this..Bess runs a crossing route, throws it waist high..Bess catches it, tannehill walks up about 3 steps, says something to bess,, Bess tops, Tanny goes back, sets up and fires a strike at his eyes..

Jeff fuller is an NFL receiver..I'm saying he makes the team..

Tannehill, chad Johnson, Reggie, and Fuller now running routes by themselves..

Tannehill makes sure hes the last one off the field..

except for one thing, I sat and I watched..Reggie went to the far side where noone could see him, and ran gassers for 15 mins..

well, what can I say today.Players that continued to impress...Rjones looked real good today..SS24 continued to impress me..Reggie..Dthomas is practicing hard and showing quickness, Lamar as well, especially picking up that blitz, Koa Misi....Jeff Fuller..I saw something yesterday that was big time, and I kept seeing it today when the pads came on..

    But T-Hill was the man.

    Once again, phenomenal work DJ.

I know it's only practice but hard not to be excited about Tannehill right now. From your account and others seems like he's making all the throws.

I gotta say that the other day CK hypothesized what if Tannehill just comes in and lights it up?, what if he has the confidence to vault himself into the competition?, without reading any other reports from this afternoon, I would say thats exactly what happened today.

He definitely looked comfortable out there today DJ. I wouldnt be surprised that his existing comfort in this offense is a big boost to his confidence... as he can sit there and direct the vets around him on where there are supposed to be and what they are supposed to be doing. Its a unique situation for a rookie QB... in that his head isnt spinning, at least in regards to his own side of the ball.

I've been pretty hard on Sean Steve, he's added size, more focus, improved his technique, still cocky as hell, but the man improved his game i'm sure we will get better play out of his position.

He looked huge. My brother and I were laughing b/c him standing next to the other CBs was almost comical, lol. Mainly due to his height, but his thickness too...

Blitz..making all the throws is the least of his concerns..I can only laugh at the talent displayed today in that type of setting..Nasty is right in that I believe he had more reps, I mean how many plays did I account for completions, 30, 35 or so, with 1 bad pass, two others being complete drops...It was a practice clinic.

Damn Al, I can't really break them down individually, but it looked as though our QB's had time to throw, I can tell you for sure that Wake made Martin silly one play for a sack, but who isn't he going to do that to this year..I remember about 3 or 4 all out blitzes..I did watch iso Jake for a bit..he's healthy..I worry about Martin, but he's in there learning and playing against the best pressure player in the game so maybe that's their idea of throwing him to the sharks to teach.

absoutely..He was in charge today, I saw him teach players their reponsibilities, I saw him changing the play, I saw him using his voice inflection to draw penalties effectively, i saw multiple pump fakes, and shoulder deeks {which to me is a big sign of confidence}, I saw him hold safeties, linebackers I saw him show leadership qualities, and I saw swagger...But I also saw his shorts he was wearing so??, bUt, as far as his first practice, I would bet it doesn't get much better for a rookie, just to reiterate, there is quite a prescedent here in play, have we ever seen a college QB and his sytem follow his coordinator to his pro team?

true, his body is ridiculous right now, I mean as far as corners in this league, I'm not sure what the prototype is anymore, but if this dudes lateral agility can get better, with his length and coverage radius, he's a physical freak at this point..

Great report! Not only the content, but you make it a fun read, son. Was going to ask you about RJones but you commented at the end that he shined some.

Sounds like we actually have 4 QB's playing pretty ball.

Most all reports mirror yours about JFuller shining too.

What can we say about THill without drooling.

Can't find that receiver IDK on the roster though (jk).

    Thanks again!

Thats all I got on Marin..

I was standing 3 feet away from him when I talked with him a bit, said the Kracken thing to him, so stupid, grown *** man here, anyway, He did look thicker, but he has the kind of physique where any type of weight he gains, its going to distribute symmetrically on his body, so yeah, I would agree, his glutes were bigger and more beautiful than ever..Like I said before, show me a bigger more athletic freak than our dude...it ain't out there man..

Yeah I saw that Trav, and I'll be honest, I questioned whether or not he could step in and insert his style of leadership, but, lol, I don't know man, it looked to me that our players recognized something..I mean, Chad, Reggie, and Davone all stayed with him after practice..There was 5 mins where it was just RT and Reggie Bush throwin routes, and his whole mindset today, was ball placement, 100 percent...several times he showed me this is where his focus is..That to me is being ahead of the game at this point in camp..

Thing I was getting at was just that everyone's expectations for Tannehill were insanely low, unfair. This guys is a #8 overall, physical dynamo, and has one of the most unique advantages I've ever seen in that his college cloches are now his pro coaches. Why should the expectations be low? He should be coming out and competing.

Really, aren't the OTA's and minicamps just a prep for training camp. It sounds like Tanny was using them as a springboard to be prepared for this moment. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Every player drafted in the top 15 should be a stud.

Perhaps. That, or he just had a good day. Either way he needed a nice performance to insert himself back in the competition and he got one.

It takes a lot of skill to execute the two plays that I'm referring to when it comes to Fuller..First, if you don't have the size, you are already at a disadvantage to make these two plays, the fact that he can literally see things in front of him is not something the other receivers can depend on, seeing the ball leave the hand is so important..secondly, its fluid motion and position specific athleticism, he has a way about him that when he runs, his head doesn't move, its like a gliding motion, which is critical to hand eye coordination, third, pure concentration, these two plays were deep crosses across the middle of the field, 2o yards deep, right in front of the safeties, and right behind the linebackers. he displays no fear or flinch when he's in route, the least amount of either, would distract him from what needs to be done to make this kind of catch, 4th, the hands, he's got to have good hands to make those catches in stride..

I have not seen two better plays offensively, executed then the two i'm talking about after three days of practice..There has been some nice deep passes and whatnot, but from beginning to end, execution wise, and degree of difficulty, he's been involved in both.

Then that other play I caught, you can look on this board, I have wriiten about the exact move he made today on that 360 tappy tap..Steve Smith is my favorite receiver, he's one of the few that I have seen execute it, Jordy Nelson is another.

Like Tannehill, its obvious he knows where he needs to be in route, depth wise..I just don't understand why he went undrafted..maybe its something we havent seen yet.

The journalists seem to be in agreement that David Garrard was the best QB in camp three days in a row. The only note I read that challenged that Day 1 was DJ's. On Day 2 there was no question. On Day 3 it seems like the journalists are saying even with Tannehill's impressive performance they for the most part agree with FinNasty that Garrard still edged him.

Ill get a bit more specific on them..

VD...When he jumped the quick slant route, gates didnt push thru on the play, so vontae was now leading the route, the ball was a dart, and he just couldn't get his hands up in time, and it popped him in the upper chest..

SS..Seans was on the sideline, the pass was very high, and he had to go vertical and really extend, but it did go thru his hands at the top..Both tough catches for DB's..

yeah he was better than Moore day 2..but i'm not comparing them today, tannehill did not get first team reps, so Garrard won the battle in day 3 when it comes to the competition that we have been evaluating, Tannehills performance was just an awesome display of skill...but while i was writing my thoughts I wasn't talking about the current competition, moreso just isolating him..now when it comes to working with the ones, yeah, you have to say Garrards performance today was sharp enough to stay in the lead, and definitely edged Moore in the comp..starting 2maro, all three compete for me relative to first team reps.

hope i'm making sense, basically when it comes to displaying talent as a qb, there was no comp CK.
