He missed a block or 2 but I still think he's an improving player with enough youth and health to ascend to being a great all-purpose TE. I didn't realize just how big he was until the announcers mentioned his size. 285 pounds with very good movement at that size and improving hands. The league is full of one-trick ponies at TE but Sims is surely ascending beyond that. Good stuff.
No way he is 285 lbs. If that's what the announcers said they were dead wrong. He was somewhere around 270 coming out of Michigan State and had slimmed down his first year. NFL.com has him at 271 and I think that may even be wrong.
Anyways.. he has to clean up the blocking. Love the touchdown catch, love the RAC on that one completion, but I think both times he whiffed the 49ers ended up with a sack or at least, a blown play. In-line blocking was supposed to be his forte.
My biggest issue with him is the injury history. Concussions, to be exact. I can think of at least two from the past two seasons, where he has missed significant time. It will probably be a concern throughout his career, and as such, I am not sure you can make him your true #1 TE option.
loved watching him maul over the 49ers defense. forgot which commentator said it, i thin it was speilman, but "that's a lot of man"
He has had just those two. Unaware of any in college or before. It is very worrisome, all you have to do is look at Cameron to realize that 1 or 2 more and he could be done as well. Because of that I agree completely with be a little cautious about making him your #1 TE. He does have the skills for it and getting better. On that note, I'm really liking Marqueis Gray as well.
Marquis Grey is more like a modern fullback to me. He's not tall enough to be a great redzone threat, IMO.
