Simms has played better this year, and has seemed to have one really good reception each week lately, but is out with a toe injury and didn't practice at all this week. Behind Simms and Clay, no TE on the roster really has any experience. Does the gameplan stay the same with that setup?

Tannehill's stats with one or two TE sets are much better thus far than when the team goes 4 or 5 wide. I would expect (situation pending of course) that we'll see a lot of 3-wide plus Clay, and one back. Hoskins doesn't really seem like he would be that strong of a blocker, so I think that we're much better off just spreading the field and putting really any of our WRs on the field instead.

As long as Dion Sims plays, we won't miss Dion Simms, whomever he is. :shifty:

Do you think they'll really give him playing time, or maybe just roll with more 3 wr sets?

I already envision jimmy hats being thrown by fans at the visiting team after every Hoskins touchdown ("The Other Guys" reference)...

Dion Sims seems like a tall TE at 6-4 and a good physical presence. I was starting to see him come on like Escobar has for the Cowboys. Escobar is 6-6.

I posed this question in another thread but with Dion Sims out, do we put in another offensive lineman so that our run game is not hindered and can any of them catch? Dion Jordan could be an option possibly but does he know, or could he learn our offense...just food for thought.

Don't have much to add other than Sims in an awkward athelete. Between he and Clay we have 2 of the weirdest looking runners in the NFL. Clay without a ball, runs with his arms straight down lol.

Put in Dion Jordan at TE. Boom! Problem solved.

It certainly hurts your blocking. Charles Clay isn't bad at it but he isn't in the same weight class.

Next man up, Hoskins has to make a play, any play, a key block, a catch on third down for a first down. He has to give us something, its that simple. As for Dion Sims I am really starting to like what he's been doing for us. I hope he gets back soon, we need him.

I wonder if Lazor will pull a page from Mike Sherman (Man, that sounds wrong, doesn't it?) from the gameplans he used against San Francisco in 2012 and San Diego last year. I think the SF game was the first game post-Jake Long in 2012 and last year's Chargers game was Sam Brenner's first start. As it stands it looks like Dallas Thomas may start and Dion Sims is out.

In both of those games Sherman put Tannehill in the gun almost exclusively, something Bill Lazor does a lot already, and went a lot to a lot of 4 and 5 WR (including Charles Clay here) and Tannehill got the ball out quick. Miami was able to get guys in space and nearly broke some big plays - Hartline fell in the SF game and Charles Clay ran through half the Chargers D.

With San Diego missing some guys in the secondary and not really having an elite pass-rusher I wonder if Lazor will look to do this.

Speaking of him, I do not recall seeing any posts lately.

By making use of Charles Clay and his ability, scheming him into the offense? That would be a welcome change.

I've always wished we had a big ole' 1st down or red zone target, 6'6" or so. Athletic as hell, great hands, great attitude and willing to play for league minimum.

I think Keller thought him that. Maybe to be more deceptive on routes? He also runs with a slight dip, it could take away signs to pickup for the defenders covering him
