Defensive end Dion Jordan is back with the Dolphins after being conditionally reinstated from the suspension that kept him off the field all of last season, but he has some rehab to do on his knee before he’ll actually get on the field. Jordan has been placed on the non-football injury list after having arthroscopic surgery on his knee prior to the league’s decision to reinstate him. The Dolphins’ ability to communicate with Jordan during his suspension was limited, which led coach Adam Gase to say, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, that Jordan’s knee issue was “news to us” when he arrived on Saturday. Gase didn’t give a firm timetable on when the Dolphins would get Jordan back in action, but did say that it would be similar to the timetable for rookie cornerback Xavien Howard’s recovery from his own knee scope. Gase said the team expects Howard to be ready to play by the start of the regular season at the latest. Whenever Jordan is ready, Gase reiterated that the team believes this is a “good fresh start” for a player who hasn’t done much of anything on the field since the Dolphins traded up to take him with the third overall pick of the 2013 draft.
