I am looking for recommendations for a digital camera that would enough zoom for baseball spring training in a few months in Peoria, Az. I wanted to get some great shots as we are going to see the Padres, Chicago White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers. I wanted to try to get the best bang for the buck. I am looking at staying under 250.00 Thanks for your help and expertise in advance. I will post the picks here. If you have a favorite player on any of the teams, please let me know the player, and position, and I will post them here after my trip.
I am new to digital photography and recently bought a Fujifilm S700. I paid just under $200 for mine at Walmart but it is available from Amazon for $165.00 [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Finepix-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B000NOUP0S[/ame]
id just get the best canon powershot you can within that price range bro.and dont worry about digital zoom, its basically worthless. its the regular zoom that matters.
I agree with this.. I got 10x, but only got 5.2 mp on my Panasonic Lumix.. Malcolms has 10x and 7 mp.. for less money.. It wasn't available last year when I got mine. This years Lumix has more mp and a better sensor.. buttt I think Malcolm got a big bang for the buck.
yeah, these days, you should be able to get at least 5 to 7 mega pixels in the 200-250 range. it makes a difference if you intend to print out anything over 5x7" photos. you really only need to worry about optical zoom, that digital zoom just never gives you good quality shots. i like canon, because they are a real camera company, and pioneers in the camera/digital camera industry. i had a canon, then my wife got me a sony cybershot. lots of bells and whistles in a compact camera. like panasonic, sony is a solid electronics company and puts out nice stuff. for a good quality camera though, i always recommend canon though. there is less to beware of, regarding certain models and features. below is a very nice and reasonable camera with a good 4x optical zoom. but please continue to shop around. and do some research about the lens in the camera you intend to purchase. thats quite important. you can do a side by side comparisons at various websites. just start googling. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Canon-PowerShot-A570-IS-7-1-Megapixel-Digital-Camera-Silver-POWERSHOTA570/sem/rpsm/oid/178669/catOid/-16941/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do#prodspecs
John wants to shoot b ball players.. you need zoom for that, I don't think cannon or sony give any more than 4x at under 200 bucks.. I want a Nikon d-200 srl so bad I can taste it
unless he gets an SLR with a specific lens(which is big bucks) i dont think he can get the shots he wants. Nikon is another great camera company you cant really go wrong with. that panasonic you have has a 10x digital zoom right? i dont think 10x optical zooms are available on regular all in one digital cameras yet.
oh wow, it is a 10X opt. id go that way then ffic. go with the panasomic with 7+ mega pixels. just make sure its a quality lens, when you find a specific model.

Thanks Seth and Marty. I have been doing a lot of comparing between the Cannon and Panasonic DMC-TZ3 Lumix 7. The panasonic is 10x optical zoom with th equivalent to a 35mm camera of a 28mm-280mm lense. It has 7.2 megas. I have been doing some checking at www.j&r.com and found the the camera, battery charger, battery pack, case, cables, strap, and cd-rom for 249.88 with free shipping. http://www.jr.com/JRProductPage.process?Product=4160005 Now I just have to grease the skids to make this happen for the old 44 b-day in March so I can take it to spring training. I got my wife a nice Sony a couple of years ago, but she will not let it out of her site. Nice pics Marty. Thanks for sharing bro.
I have a 1 gig memory card and insurance.. that has already paid for itself, I recommend both for any camera. You can go on vacation and when the card is full, dump it into your laptop and go shoot some more. I LOVE my Photobase cd.. I use it to view everything, I have shared it with a couple of friends too, and they also like it. Do you have a dvd recorder John? You can plug in your lead to the recorder and make dvd's and or plug it into your tv and view it there too. I load it all into my computer but special stuff, I burn a dvd too..
If yer doggies love you, they'll get you one for yer birthday... very reasonable nowadays.. I have had mine for two years and have all our games(gag) lotsa college games, playoff games, all of blue planet, universe, planet earth.. movies.. couple hundred, all together plus I have burned many copies for friends.
Saw it mentioned, dont cheap out, go for a 1-2 gig memory card. Can put loads of shots on there without having to worry about losing pixels or running out of room. Especially true with high megapixel cameras. Just periodically dump them all onto some CDs for a hard backup and clean the card out again for reuse. If you cant do it on a computer (no laptop on vacation or something) most places like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS etc can do it pretty cheap. As for recomendations, its all been pretty much said. Good zooms and high megapixel and your pretty well set-just dont drop the thing when you get it
