Miami is a top five defense in terms of points allowed. Only San Francisco, Houston, Baltimore and Pittsburgh give up less. Allowing offenses to score 18.3 points a game in today's NFL is pretty good. And if you threw out that first game against New England, which is clearly an albatross, it's even better. It really is a shame that this team tripped and feel through the first half of the season. If you give us the Browns, Broncos and Giants game, we are clearly looking at a completely different season.
I'm glad I got a bye week in Fantasy Football. LeSean McCoy is my star player and he ain't gonna do **** this Sunday. Run defense has always been a strength of this team, even in years they have stunk. Now that these Dolphins are starting to defend the pass well, it's no surprise we're winning games.
I think it's pretty clear that this is a very good defense that just came in out of shape. I also think they screwed up by playing Jones at FS. Technically, I believe Miami uses a right and left S rather than a SS and FS. But it seems to me that they are now playing Jones closer to the line more often and giving him less deep responsibility. In essence, they're giving him more SS responsibilities and fewer FS responsibilities. Since that adjustment and the defense getting healthy and in shape, they have become the defense that those predicting 8-8 or 9-7 expected. Heck, I would argue that if the defense had played at this level all year that we'd be looking at a 10 or 12 win season.
