Sedrick tore it up yesterday at the Senior Bowl playing in the mandatory 4-3. How does he stack up to Dorsey playing in a 3-4 d?
they are 2 different guys..sedrick is the nose tackle while dorsey plays three point. so ellis would be a better fit to me if we are going to play alot of 3-4. and to your threag question...no yesterdays game did not make me think. i have said a few times ellis is the better player..that we didn't "have" to select dorsey number one overall. imo we could trade down and still pick up dline help in ellis. that was until mike mayock decided to jump on my bandwagon and put ellis as top dt so we will see.
One of the guys I really wanted to “scout” yesterday was Ahtyba Rubin as one of those guys we could get later in the draft. I saw he was out there, but I don’t remember them mentioning his name as they did with Ellis. I really wasn’t able to see what he did. I should have Tivo’d the game to really do some homework, but I think the wife might actually leave me at that point… Anybody see anything in Rubin that I missed?
me too..he is going to be a beast just a different kind than dorsey. and if we aren't interested in trading down we could easily pick say long then move back up and take ellis as i don't think he makes it to the last of the first even if dorsey slips and is the first dt taken.
I DVRed every practive and the game. Rubin had a very solid week. I tend to look at practice, more so than the game even. Solid prospect who appears capable of playing Nt in a 3-4 scheme. Would say a 3-4 rd grade.
That's kind of bizarre, considering he played a whole lot yesterday in a 1 or 0 technique, and most of the last two seasons in USC as a NT in a 3-4.
According to many at the NFL Network, including Mayock, that's what sets him apart from Dorsey. IMO Dorsey has the ability to play wherever you want him to (3-4 front).
Just a guess, but don't you think that part of his job requirement while working for the NFL network is watching the NFL? Truth be told I haven't seen all that much of big Sed. However, every time I read an eval of him, it mentions the fact that he can play the nose. An example: http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDraft/Senior+Bowl/2007/rock012408.htm Might not be his best position, but quite a few people seem to think he can get it done. Time will tell should he eventually be plugged in at that position.
