I have a Compaq Presario V2000 Laptop and I recently bought another 1gig card of Ram for it. The Presario has two ports for Ram in the bottom of it and I just popped one of the old cards out and put in my new one.

It seems like the computer is reading it bc the system page shows 1.126 gigs of memory instead of the 5-6mb it used to be.

I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have to install it anywhere else on the computer. I was never prompted or notified that new hardware was added so I was just curious if this was normal?

RAM's read automatically. Just plug and chug.

    That's key right there.

As regan said all you have to do is "plug and chug" but if you're looking for a notification that's it. You could also check the BIOS.

lol, don't worry. It's a reasonable question. As long as you aren't sticking it in some chick's nether regions to see if it makes her smarter, it's all good. :tongue2:
