Narrow it down to just one at pick #12.

That's my preference in order. McClain and Morgan will likely not be available when Miami picks. In that case, I would go with Jerry Hughes.

I really can't wait until the draft is over. KB21 will stop lashing out on Earl Thomas, JS will stop saying "draft Dez Bryant, F*ck Defense", and everyone who hates on Bryant will stop.

We should trade our first round pick. Obviously, no one is going to be happy here.

Based on that he is a talented WR. Ignoring the fact that he did pretty much the opposite in college of course.

He's already shown it. Mike Gundy has criticized him for being a poor teammate at OSU. He has been late for multiple team meetings and practices. Now, he's lashing out at the NFL community saying that he hasn't done anything wrong. He sounds just like Terrell Owens.

Why do you leave out the fact that Gundy said he matured as a character? This is what I don't understand. I realize you're not a fan of taking a wide receiver in the first round and you criticize those who wouldn't mind the pick of Bryant at twelve but why don't you tell the positives and the negatives of the player? Why just highlight the negatives? Is it simply because of your dislike for the position in the early round?

I'm not trying to take shots at you, so forgive me if it comes off that way. I'm just trying to understand your thinking process.

    NFL community?

He's talking to the media......who are guilty of the same crap you are. A bunch of guys on a forum and the media, are not the "NFL community".

Why not just say hey I don't like the kid as our choice and feel we'd be better served taking a LB at #12. At least it wouldn't sound so ridiculously self serving....

I cant help but think that if Rolando McClain, Derrick Morgan, Jerry Hughes, Brandon Graham, Jared Odrick, or Mike Iupati said these types of comments, about how people would regret passing on him and he would make them pay, that there would talk of "competitive fire" or "a chip on his shoulder, he'll play hard" or "wow that guy just wants to compete."

With Dez the first thing is "hes a jackass." So his grammar sucks. Guess what, hes not getting paid to be a high school english teacher. Hes paid to catch a football, which he does. Very very well. The length that people seem to be going to paint him as almost downright evil is just insane.

Don't exaggerate......I never said we don't need help on defense. My priority is offense and if these conversations are getting to you, well then maybe you're taking what's said on an open forum a little too seriously. Maybe you need a break........I'm thinking I might..lol

Because most of you that are going nuts trying to convince yourselves and everyone else that he's such a bad guy.........are also on record as saying that we're in desperate need of help on defense.

The problem is, you don't understand what you saw last year....the problem is, that genius FO of ours screwed the pooch when they over valued and resigned Crowder and when they signed Gibril Wilson to play FS. Both of which were monumentally STUPID mistakes........and we paid for it

You don't need to use every resource you have to fix this defense to an adequate level......all we needed was a few good players, the right players.

Also.......we can't fix everything over night but yeah, lets concentrate on defense and put getting Henne some help off for another day. Because we all know that if Henne flames out next year it's no big deal.......hey we got some really cool LB's.

I don't address the positives of the situation because I don't see any positives of taking Dez Bryant with the 12th pick. This guy will have Tony Sparano in the cath lab soon because of how much time Tony will have to spend just to keep him in line and part of the team.

I beyond over exaggerated. Except for KB21 and his hate on Earl Thomas.

My point is, this place is getting a little ridiculous. One side bashes offense, one side bashes defense, and one poster hates Earl Thomas.

If you haven't noticed, we have major needs at OLB and FS. Just as big as WR.

I never said Dez was a bad guy, but some of things I've heard don't help his cause. Who knows what is and what isn't true.

And just because we don't take Dez at 12, doesn't mean we can't address WR in other rounds, and vise versa.

You're a very good poster here and we just need to agree to disagree. You and many others think offense is the priority, others and I think defense is the priority. Either way, it's going to be an interesting draft.

And we can both agree that when it's over OUR team will be better.

And I never said we didn't.......altho I don't agree on that order.

I'd put FS above anything else on defense and WR ahead of everything period.

It's not like we don't have any resources left.....we could easily fill all of those needs.

    Ok. I'll try this.

He might be able to make an impact on this team in three years.

    Is that positive enough?

No, another statement that you can't be serious about.

Your emotions are getting in the way of properly evaluating a player, in my opinion. I know you will disagree with me but I think its fairly obvious that they are.

The draft is fairly deep at both of those positions......more depth than at WR.

My feeling is that where we sit, all defensive players of Bryant's level of talent will be gone.

If he's still there at #12, you grab him and address OLB and FS in rounds 2 and 3.

Rather than the other way around because the last thing we need is more projects at WR or more #2, 3 and 4 guys

We need a legitimate #1..... we either grab Bryant or make a very costly trade for one.

Personally I'd make a Sharper a front loaded deal he couldn't refuse and continue to try and develop the Safeties we have on the roster...

Agree with you there. I'd also look to bring back JT. Both can hold down the positions for this year while we develop our younger players.

Personally, I dont think you can destroy a QB by not getting him receivers (and I dont think they're as bad as people make them out to be). In fact not having all world receivers might be beneficial in the long run for Henne's development in that it will force him to play more intelligently rather than just throwing a jump ball to a covered receiver because there's a fifty fifty chance he'll out jump the defender. You need to be able to survive the loss of any player and if you become dependent on players bailing you out you never develop to your fullest potential and you suffer when players you depend on are injured or gone

From what Ive seen, the only way to truly destroy a QB is send him out there with a poor offensive line. You pick up horrible habits out of survival mode that become increasingly difficult to overcome the longer you stay behind poor pass protection. You have to credit this FO, in that the offensive line Henne is playing behind is optimum for his future development. Not to mention having Pennington as a mentor

Which is all useless when you have this woefully average, non play making unit of WR's that you are being far too generous about.

Much is going to be expected of Henne this season, with either Penny and or Thigpen standing over his shoulder. And without an upgrade of his targets, you realistically can only expect so much from him.

Making sure Henne progresses should be priority number one this year.... otherwise we are royally screwed for quite sometime.

I have said that just by doing nothing and letting Henne and the current corps of receivers have another year of playing together we should see a 33% increase in yards. The coaches will be more comfortable with Henne and will probably have him air it out a bit more.

I dont disagree that it would help our offense to add a playmaking receiver but I dont quite share your belief that our offense and Henne would somehow implode if we dont get one. Phil Simms turned out to be a pretty good QB and he never had receivers his entire career

Phil Sims was a game manager......game managers don't beat Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.......not in this day and age.

And how exactly is airing it out a bit more going to help? Throwing more passes to guys who can't find the endzone or go up and fight for a ball will just lead to chants of "Penny Penny Penny"...because of all the incompletions and INT's that will result.

I like Henne but I dont think he's ever going to have the pinpoint accuracy to compare to Manning or Brees.

I'm positive Henne will be a good QB, think he has a chance to be a very good QB but I dont see him ever being elite (maybe 5% chance). Also I didnt hear any chants of Penny last year and I would be hardpressed to imagine a scenario where that would be heard being chanted even if he had a sophmore slump. I think most Miami fans were won over by Henne's performance and realize he is the future

And Phil Simms beat John Elway and Joe Montana and Jim Kelly

I think the reason you didn't hear chants for Penny last year has more to do with the fact that he was put on IR after the 3rd game and less to do with Henne's performance ;)

    lol...no he didn't

He was a game manager for a pound the ball, great defensive team led by maybe the greatest defender of all time. Hell they swept thru the playoffs and beat "Jim Kelly" with Jeff Freakin Hostetler.

Oh and you get Henne some great play makers and he doesn't have to be nearly as accurate to make good use of that cannon
