Make it all incentive based. I think he could earn $2.5M then, and the team should be happy to pay it if he meets all the criteria.
Gotta have strict weight clauses in there. He loses weight for the contract year. Great. Now keep it off...
The 30% rule pretty much caps anything he can get. Not to mention there's also what happens with the CBA.
Agreed however I dont think he goes for it.... I believe this and Wake will get done...Miami is well aware not not letting go young talent, especially Line play...
I always knew he wanted a fat pay raise. His play this year deserves a "hefty" contract... One could even say he should "weight" it out... haha, no, no, seriously...He's a big, fat man.
how long has he been with the Fins and he's now starting to produce and wants big money. The FO didn't do anything about getting a nose tackle in the draft and now this idiot wants the big money.
Just pay the man. I mean is 2.5m really that much for a starting nose tackle? Plus if they don't resign him and end up getting a replacement they'll prolly way overpay for someone who never sees the field as they have a history of doing.
Agreed, $2.5 million for a NT is not big $$. We certainly don't want an Albert Haynesworth situation and one never knows how stable a guy is even though Soliai is having a great season. But, I'd pay him that much and try to make some of it incentive based. He seems to be a player that needs some degree of fear motivation. And, I definitely agree about the weight clause. He just can't be ballooning up and still be effective.
Soliai is just starting to come into his own. I don't think that 2.5 mil in this day and age is too much for a starting NT. I do think some of it would have to be contigent on conditioning.
