I'll say this. If the Raiders had a solid organization/coaching staff in there, with the current personnel they have, they'd be very freaking good. Imagine our coaching staff with their personnel.
I like Kiffin a lot there but Davis is going to get rid of him sooner or later according to Samphin's post above.
That isn't news. Davis wants to get rid of the guy, he just doesn't want to buy him out. With all due respect to Samphins source this is not inside info. It was reported that Davis even wrote a resignation letter for Kiffin but Kiffin refused to resign. The fact that Kiffin almost resigned is new, so yeah, that's inside info, but it's certainly not shocking. Just stick around, tank the team, and get paid or bought out. But then you won't coach again ...
I should point out that my ties to the Raiders organization have loosened over the past few years with the comings and going of a few people. However, I was able to "break," if you will, that Fargas and Nnamdi would be brought back to Oakland late into the season last year. I also did break the Randy Moss story over at our old stomping grounds weeks before it surfaced. Typically, I am fed anecdotal information about the team, players and staff that isn't worth reporting. However, on occasion, I am given a nugget here and there that is newsworthy and makes it easy to connect the dots from point A to endgame (as with the Moss situaton). With the Kiffin info, the ocnversations that were relayed to me were overheard by others within the organization. But like I said, my connections aren't as tight anymore. One of my former insiders with Oakland is someone WE ALL know and is currently working for another franchise. When they were in Oakland, I was able to get a bunch of stories well before they ever hit the press. In some cases...they never did.
