I'm sorry Coyle sucks,we made Bortles look like damn Joe Montana.Hell it looks always like a basic defense no suprise blitzes,i can tell every blitz before it happens. He gotta go defense plays without emotion and has no fire!! It makes me sick loosing with that much talent on the team

    Where is Mike Nolan

I think Philbin, Lazor, and Coyle are at least as bad as the rest of you do. But to be fair, this front office has been **** since about 1984, except for a few exceptions when Jimmy Johnson ran things. I mean, I'm not even sure Belichick could cheat his way to victory with these players.

Bill would have this team 2-0 and ready to make a run at homefield advantage. The coaching staff in Miami is uninspired, they come out flat every game and they have no ability to adapt to pressure coming towards RT as games wear down.

Hell we'd look a lot better with Rex Ryan at the helm too. But we blew that opportunity to keep Philbin around.

I agree Rex would be better, but damn.. his reputation as a defensive guru took a hit today: Bills gave up 40 points!! .. even if it was to the Patriots.

This is not on Philbin. It's amazing the heat he gets, yet Coyle pretty much gets a pass. He's the one who should be at the heart of these firing debates.

It was Philbin's job to fire him a long time ago.

Vernon was completely useless today... Cameron Wake is showing his age.. it's really sad Dion didn't live up to expectations... the dropoff of Wake's decline shouldn't hurt this much when you invested a high first round pick on a defensive end not long ago..

The phins only have up 23 points. So far this week, 17 teams have given up 23 or more points. That's more than half the league and 4 teams still need to play. Giving up 23 isn't the end of the world. Also, they gave THREE points in the second half!!

The offense scored 7 points in the second half. Tanny's stats are awesome but the offense needs to put up a couple more points than that.

The problem is performance relative to perceived talent on the team. I mean we have Suh and Wake, and the others on the DL are pretty good as players. Yet we totally got ripped in the 1st half, but gave up almost nothing in the 2nd till the very end? That sounds like the problem is on the coaches. We really do have a 1st quarter problem.. this coaching staff doesn't prepare the team well for the next game.

I think that strong consideration should be given to starting Jordan Phillips at DT and Terrence Fede at DE, replacing Vernon.

Hey the Raiders beat the Ravens and the Ravens are 0-2. I like to think we're going to go all out in the middle of the season so we don't burn out like last year towards the end.

    Alright all, off to sleep.

Not sure about perceived talent. Suh is great but he can easily be taken of a game. Wake is looking older. He can still play but he isn't the same as three years ago. Even the best D line can't deal with horrible linebackers and an average secondary.

The team all of the sudden seems to have no pass-rusher, and that's a major problem in today's NFL.

Kevin Coyle is just a bad front seven coach. He's jamming round pegs in square holes, and has an idea what he wants be seemingly no aptitude to get there. He keeps jamming square pegs in round holes, and then we keep getting keel-hauled with his stunts in the run game.

I don't know why in the **** people are talking about Cameron Wake looking older when he came into the game with an injury and didn't play a large portion of it.

For a supposed DB guru, our DB's are awful, and have been since he arrived. Add that to suspect calling/game planning and I really don't see why he is here. In my mind, Philbin gives him the Buffalo game. If the defense ****s the bed again, time for a change.

There are so many factors in how a team plays, blaming the coaching staff is lazy and presumptuous.

    Lazy doesn't mean inaccurate.

You'd rather blame the players than the coach? So you think that the relative difference in performances between 1st and 3rd quarter are primarily on the players?

I don't know.. but I've seen enough of Philbin, Coyle (and now increasingly Lazor) to think that play-calling/game management needs a bigger boost than talent. Just my opinion, but that's what I think.

Imagine if Dion Jordan was out there playing the way the team intended for him to when it drafted him. He'd be in his prime disrupting plays right and left.

Call me crazy but I'd rather not blame anyone, I'll go back and study the game later to see what went wrong and I'm not above crediting the opposing team for playing a good game. People just assume the Dolphins are this great team that should walk over Jax, then when it doesn't happen they point at coaching bc reassessing their prior assumptions is inconvenient. Not speaking about you specifically, I know you're a good poster, but it happens, a lot.

Philbin retained Coyle, citing his "body of work", which includes the defense allowing more points per game in 3 consecutive years. Just saying.

10 points allowed. 23 points allowed. 3 second half points allowed in 2 games. Weak LBs, weak CBs, green FS, how you come up w Coyle as the issue should surprise anyone who's actually paying attention.

You faced two teams that won 4 and 3-games respectively last year. One of which was fielding their back-up quarterback. The overall points scored are not problematic, but the performance within the context of the game sure as **** is. That you're sitting here and claiming that I'm not paying attention while claiming a litany of completely ordinary and/or self-inflicted personnel issues are the blame is rich.

The linebackers thing is especially grand, when you ostensibly are sitting there and watching them mix and match every down. Kelvin Sheppard and Zach Vigil are rotating by...what exactly? By series? That makes sense to you? Why are there seemingly even more personnel combinations in the Nickel package? Why are they doing aggressive, attacking run fits with linebackers who do their best work scraping to the ball?

So our prior assumptions of us being more talented, having a better, more experienced QB thus we should've won were wrong?

Jacksonville will win 5 games this season in their weak division. We'll likely win 7-9, and you can surely chalk this one up to losing to an inferior team. As an isolated incident it's not cause for alarm, but when this coaching staff consistently puts up these stinkers against bad teams considering the addition of talent and QB experience, I'd say they need to shoulder a good amount of blame.

No it doesn't. Underperforming, but the defense doesn't suck.

Just have to hope they turn it around this week.

Uh...the OP specifically names Coyle, and plenty of people are calling for Coyle to go, and have been since last season.

Philbin is also responsible, he's the head coach.

Lot of bad plays - guys in position and just screwing up. Lots of injuries on that side of the ball. Lot of penalties. This performance is on the players to me.

They most definitely suck. The defense may not be giving up many points in the second halves, but these have not been good football teams, and they have been moving the ball, at will, on the ground and in the air. Good offensive teams are going to destroy us.

This is mostly correct. The offense scored 3 against Washington and 7 today. I think the offense carries equal blame. Those defenses will probably be middle of the pack or lower by seat seasons end. The stats may look pretty, especially today, but the result says otherwise.

$$$ = significantly less hunger and therefore drive to excel. The days of selling out every play are done. I'll be the first to admit I was hoodwinked into believing this dude was a different breed from Haynesworth, although maybe it's a human nature thing.

This is why when you pay someone such a large percentage of your cap, you have to make sure it's someone with the sort of character that makes him want to win a championship above all else, and that his will to win a championship translates to a selfless drive to contribute to the team at a very high level (think "Michael Jordan"). Anything short of that and you don't dole out that sort of money, because it's going to prevent you from improving elsewhere on the roster.
