I really hope that our run D is still as solid as it was last year after moving Dansby and Burnett. I have a feeling the Pats will run a lot this year....

Don't lose track of Derrick Shelby either.

Front 7 looks good, as for run D posted in club in 2011 Richard Marshall was the best tackling Cb in the league.

Not sure how much chance Lance Louis is really going to get. They seem to really like Dallas Thomas and there's a tendency with Ireland to go with younger guys when it's close. They drafted Dallas pretty high. Wouldn't shock me at all to see them just decide that Dallas Thomas and Richie Incognito are the starters at those spots and this is the five man line they're going with. They'll let them practice together all camp to get chemistry.

Agreed. Just very early. Even after first couple of game there will be room for changes. Especially if another player gets nicked up. Louis really needs to be healthy. If he isn't it won't matter.

But, what will be interesting is to see what happens with Jerry. I haven't seen anything about how long he may be out or how serious his injury is. If he comes back in the next couple of days, then everything may change and revert back.

I think it could be very dangerous to have Thomas at LG and Martin at LT. One guy with four starts there another with zero. They may be forced to do that (they were at this point) but I think if Jerry and Louis get healthy, there's no way they go with Thomas/Martin on the left. The other option could be to move Samuda to C and Pouncey to RG with Incognito at LG. That was tried and I think there is as good a chance of that happening as the Thomas insertion.

If we can rush those 5 and drop 6, with that kind of rush talent, sky's the limit if Dion can take all that pressure off wake and clean up his scraps..with the combination of Dions change of direction and his explosive length, sacks that we never seemingly could wrap up, are a thing of the past, this dude can pounce anything in a five yard radius..

I had read somewhere a while back the Louis probably wouldnt be ready until a few weeks into the regular season. IMO, there is no way Dallas starts ahead of Louis if Louis is healthy.

But if Wallace’s deep ball was the highlight Saturday, Grimes’ incredibly athletic play on another Tannehill pass to Wallace wasn’t far off. Grimes lunged to poke the ball away at the last second. Wallace said he’s enjoying the battle with Grimes and has ultimate respect for him. Wallace said receivers talk in their meetings about what a good player Grimes is.

Jared Odrick continues his exceptional work at defensive tackle. No need to move him back to end if Olivier Vernon and Dion Jordan play up to the staff’s expectations. Jordan, by the way, participated in individual drills but not in 11 on 11 team drills as he continues to work his way back from shoulder surgery.

Cornerback Dimitri Patterson was rewarded for his outstanding camp but getting some reps with the first team, opposite Brent Grimes. Philbin raved about Patterson afterward: “He’s playing fast. He has cat like quickness.”

Marvin McNutt made a couple of nice catches – including a long TD pass from Tannehill in 1-on-1 drills against Julian Posey. He has emerged as the biggest threat to Rishard Matthews for the No. 5 receiver job. Brian Tyms and Jeff Fuller haven’t seized the opportunity; both had drops Saturday.

Michael Egnew and Kyle Miller continue to do damage catching passes in the middle of the field.

Interesting that they say McNutt is the biggest threat to Matthews for the #5 receiver spot, does that mean they have Binns penciled in at #4?

I try and judge it by the way the coaches are playing him and I think Omar could be right about that one. It's significant that the coaches used him right away when they grabbed him last year.

I think McNutt is fighting to be a 6th. I thought Chad Bumphis would make a run at that job. Guess not.

As it pertains to Grimes, I remember two years ago watching a steeler game I forget who the color analyst was, but after Wallace was putting on a show, he said" Mike Wallace right now is the most dangerous wide receiver in the league"..Him saying that about grimes is high praise..

We just may of lured the two best free agents on the market to come to Miami and play ball.

I think McNutt and Matthews are fighting for that 5th spot. I don't know if they'll carry 6 wide receivers however with them running more 3 wide singleback sets, maybe they will.

It says a lot, compared to last year, when I wouldn't want to lose either of those players from the roster. I don't think Matthews would be eligible for the practice squad, but would McNutt, assuming he cleared waivers? It might come down to who contributes more on special teams.
