I've been very negative on Vernon as a pass rusher but I hope to be wrong. The cynic in me wonders if its not Martin sucking more than Vernon excelling.
And with Olivier Vernon's ability to drop and cover, no way to tell which of Dion or Vernon or both may rush or drop back.
Have Coyle study the full season of film where Saban used Jason Taylor multiple ways, leading to a Defensive MVP of the league if I recall correctly.
Nah, not me, always thought he was playing fairly well last season, not amazingly well of course. But saw things like the way he can bend the edge a bit that caused optimism.
You worry too much. His Pro Day numbers were highly acceptable when compared to LBs at the combine. I'm curious who RevRick says. Being as how he is an old salt with a lot of knowledge of US Naval history. I am reserving my name 'til after he says his.
I think you will pleasantly surprised with Vernon. He is a super athletic guy for his size who has basically never received proper coaching until last season IMO Not to mention who missed a lot of college playing time and valuable experience.
The real Admiral Halsey committed a huge tactical error at the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and left the San Bernadino Strait unguarded. Jap Admiral Kurita's still powerful Center Force came through the strait unopposed, and the only thing between them and Army's amphibious landing on the eastern side of Leyte Island were 3 carrier escort units consisting of 16 small, slow and unarmored escort carriers and some destroyers and destroyer escorts. The heroic actions of one of the escort units known as Taffy 3, under Rear Admiral Clifton Sprague, caused Kurita to believe they had encountered Halsey's entire 3rd Fleet. Planes from the escort carriers attacked Kurita, as well as the destroyers and destroyer escorts. Eventually getting him to turn around and retreat. I'm a big Clifton Sprague fan. Another admiral that I admire is Jesse Oldendorf who's force was the last to ever cross the T of the enemy force in a naval battle, which was at the Battle of Surigao Strait against Jap Admiral Nishimura's "Southern Force". Oldendorf's battleships other than one were all refloated and repaired battleships that were sunk or damaged at Pearl Harbor. I thought it was pretty cool that they got to achieve some payback for the Jap's cowardly attack at Pearl. At Surigao Strait, they really laid waste to Nishimura's Southern Force. My 3rd favorite admiral was Ray Spruance, who had to replace Halsey at the Battle of Midway. Spruance's decision making, coolness in the heat of the moment and tactics at Midway played a big role in the US victory in what amounted to the turning point of the war in the Pacific.
I may be weird to you kids but I don't focus much if at all on science fiction/fantasy. Things like Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, etc, is all totally totally boring to me.
