Just received a text from a friend that said David Arkin (OT) is on his way to Miami. My friend was his HS teacher and received a text from Davids dad saying he's headed to Miami.
I don't know David personally, but I think he was with the Dallas Cowboys, but not 100% sure on that.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2011/profiles/david-arkin?id=2495112 David Arkin (OL) Height: 6'5" Weight: 300 lbs. Arm Length: 33 7/8 in. Hand Size: 10 1/2 in. College: Missouri St. Conference: Missouri Valley Selected by: Dallas Cowboys Round: 4 Pick (Overall): 13 (110) Pick Analysis: The Cowboys entered the draft with needs along the interior, so the pick of Arkin addresses that concern. He was a dominant small-college standout but will need to demonstrate some position flexibility to upgrade the Cowboys' offensive line. Combine Stats 40 Yard Dash5.36 sec Bench Press25.0 reps Vertical Jump29.0 inch Broad Jump103.0 inch 3 Cone Drill7.6 sec 20 Yard Shuttle4.63 sec 60 Yard Shuttle- Overview Arkin's an experienced, durable offensive guard prospect with the intelligence, work-ethic and toughness to make it in the league as a reserve and possibly a starter down the line. Improving his overall technique as a pass and run blocker would go a lot way in moving him up a depth chart. Needs to do a better job with his hands, sink his hips more and watch his pad level. Displays good awareness. Has the killer instinct that can't be taught and we don't expect him to be afraid of the jump in competition.
Sounds like Philbins kind of lineman...damn its good to.get back to some football talk Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I just don't know if the Dolphins signed him or if he's coming in for a workout. I haven't heard back, just don't want to assume anything other than he's coming to Miami.
Arkin was on Dallas's practice squad, so if he's coming to Miami, it is because the Dolphins have signed him off their PS.
There should be 3-4 players from all over the country on their way to Miami right now that project as NFL OL, guard AND LT. Or Ireland isn't doing his job, wait . . .
From now on, I think Ireland should leave the room the moment a player enters his office to interviewed. Based on the players reaction the interview should end or continue
Keep the Martin/Incognito smart *** remarks in those threads. The rest of us would like to actually talk about football not see more threads get dragged off topic.
When frightened or cornered, living beings resort to instinct. Apparently our GM's instinct is to bring in star-heads.
An ex-Boy, but not drafted by the Parcellian regime in Dallas...?? Does that make a difference or is this kid just a warm, fuzzy body to fill out the bottom of the roster...??
If any good comes of this it means the soulless ginger will be fired and sent into the depths from which he came: Parcells' gunt.
I'm assuming he's just backup competition for Watkins, and one will be active on gameday and one will be in street clothes. We've added McKinnie, and lost Martin/Incognito, so are one down in the OL numbers game. Watkins should be the favourite to at least be active on gameday just going by knowing the playbook already.
1) we all knew OL would be the problem this year. We just didnt know it would be like this 2) will Dallas hire Ireland after this year? I mean, he already spends 90% of his time researching their roster
Really don't give a rats butt where he came from, as long as he has upside and can keep his nose clean.
Not really, because they are going to need him too. He probably will suit up for the first time on the active 46 this Monday.
That's it in a nutshell. As long as Garner and McKinnie stay healthy, I honestly don't see the current starting 5 as any worse than the original. The depth is the concern. I like Yeatman, and think he can fill in well if needed. Watkins has started 18 games in the league, at least isn't a total stiff. Garner is a better guard than a tackle, and graded well when he started at either guard in the past. His only concern is durability as you say.
He played his HS football at a catholic school, so he knows how to party....lol I used to work part time at a golf course, (free golf), his HS golf team had a party one night and was sponsored by a beer company. Thought it was kind of funny since the golf team was a high school....lol
