That would be a surprise, Butler was highly thought of coming out of UConn, but the pats can and will jettison high draft picks quickly to make room for yet..more high draft picks.

Crable, McKenzie, Wheatley, OConnel, they have little problem in so doing.

If I were an NFL GM I'd have a employee dedicated just to studying the patriots roster as a part time job as they add picks, fmr high picks will be cut, that is opportunity.

Thats why Bellicheck needs to stockpile draft picks. He keeps missing on them. :)

More or less, the key to the patsies is Brady, as long as he keeps having 30 td 10 int seasons BB can do whatever the heck he wants to do, passrusher? Why bother?

We scouted Butler heavily in 09, so much so he claimed his father was told we would draft him.

I really liked him coming out.

I remember that. We ended up (obviously) passing on him. I though he was gonna be their next Asante Samuel. Very athletic player. He can even dunk a basketball at, what is he, 5'9" or 5'10"?

Yeah, there was a vid on him doing something like that pre draft.

    Check this out:

Another drum I've banged, Belicheck's infatuation with the spread was winding down last yr, he only wins SB' when he runs the ball and here they are, which is yet another reason why dumping the resources into the Dline that we have will pay off moving forwards.

Problem is, now we are moving towards a more wide open offense when imho, the pats are *****, they do not have the attitude they once had, when Sharper dove at Moss's knees on MNF in 09 and there was no retaliation you could tell this is no longer the patriots of Harrison and Bruschi./

Butler was really lacking in the strength dept. They showed a lot of clips on NFLN of the attendees to Deion Sanders' pre draft training program for DBs. Butler was there. He wouldn't even do the bench press on camera. Some of the other guys there did. I never saw a bench press total for him. He skipped it at the combine and again at his pro day. I'm going to guess he was about a 6-7 reps at 225 kind of guy.
He does have decent cover skills though of that class, I liked the Smiths and Moore better, along with Davis, who I thought we had no shot at. picking 25th.
