If I read correctly, Moore started playing football in his senior year of high school. I'd love to see Miami get this guy, but if he comes out my guess is that he'll be gone before we pick- but you never know. I think that he's the best that I've seen at DE and I'd be curious to see him at OLB.

IMO He's one of those guys Boomer was referring to who does nothing but produce but didn't seem to get enough respect for longer than deserved. It's as if he wouldn't have been validated unless the SEC did so. I hate the SEC.

I think if he's replacing anyone, it'd be as a sort of pseudo Koa Misi-like role. I could see him as an edge rusher opposite Wake in certain roles; perhaps if you go to more of a 3-4 look. But, from what I've seen of him, he seems to clean-up a lot and get stats based on what others do. If you're looking for an edge rusher and/or DE to play opposite Wake, I think I'd rather take my chances with Bjoern Werner, Alex Okafor, or Cornellius Carradine first.

He started out at Texas A&M as an OLB iirc. I would definitely consider him at OLB replacing Burnett and let him carve out his own niche. My focus is still the same thing- generating pass rush opposite Cameron Wake. I think that Burnett is more of the problem that Odrick, just my opinion. I'd rather find someone that can work with Odrick, in tandem and with synergy, to stop the run and rush the passer. Moore is a terror of the edge- for all the knocks that Odrick has been taking, that is one quick 300 lb dude- the problem is that we're in a 4-3 and he's no Justin Tuck. But rather than replacing him, bumping him inside to a DT rotation or having him replace Starks (can this team really afford to lose one of its most talented players?) I'd rather pair him up with an OLB who's a terror off the edge. And if Moore proves to be more of a DE- that's fine. Bump Odrick inside on third downs and rest Soilia. Odrick is a bit limited as a 4/3 DE, but he's a darned good football player. Maybe he can drop down to 290 or so and improve his speed a bit, who knows.

Damontre Moore as an OLB in a 4-3? That would be kind of weird. He's an OK defensive end, I love the frame on him, but there's still something missing there for me. As there was when I took a look at him pre-2012.

Why would that be weird? Maybe a comparison would be Von Miller and the Broncos. Moore is about 6-4 250 I think. Miller is 6-3 240. Moore played the joker position behind Miller at Texas A&M. Both players are quick as hell and very athletic. Miller now plays OLB for the Broncos in a 4/3 defense. I don't see what would preclude Moore from playing OLB. That being said, I still like his teammate Sean Porter quite a bit as a 4/3 OLB. A little smaller, cat quick and a very good speed pass rusher.

You can't just break everyone down to number digits on a computer screen. Damontre Moore doesn't move or play like Von Miller did at Texas A&M. Yes I think it would be weird to plug him into a 4-3 OLB role.

I'm not trying to do that, just to point out that while he's a bit large for a 4/3 OLB, he's not all that big. Him playing a 4/3 OLB role would come down to movement skills, as I don't think that his run defense is suspect given that he's playing the run pretty well as a DE now, and he can obviously rush the passer. I'm not trying to equate Moore and Von Miller, just point out some similarities. Miller is an elite athlete, but I think that Moore is at minimum a very, very good athlete and I think that he could play OLB for us. Long shot that it is, drafting both Moore and Sean Porter would be quite a haul imo.
