Here's another piece done on Broncos Jay Cutler. It's about Jay Cutler and his emergence as a star in this league. Cutler put up good numbers last year while battling diabetes. The exact numbers of Cutler was 3,497 yards, 20 touchdowns and completion rate of 63.6 percent. In last year's games, Jay Cutler grew weaker and weaker as the quarters went by. He lost arm strength and had trouble throwing passes to his abilities due to his body being weak from the diabetes. Now, after learning about it, he has battled it and knows how to not let it affect him. Teams such as San Diego are starting to worry about defending against the young star. Ted Cotrell, SD DC, was quoted as saying "Jay Cutler is about to become a star in this league." Also, "I know it's coming. You could see it last year. He is a good, smart, young quarterback who can be a star for a long time. He is a guy we are going to have to worry about." Cutler has worked hard this off-season on trying to cut down his turnovers that he has made in his first 21 starts in Denver. I really liked Cutler coming out of Vanderbilt. He had great arm strength and was accurate. I felt that he was the best QB out of the three and so far, it looks that way with Vince Young struggling in Tennessee and Matt Leinart losing his starting job to the veteran Kurt Warner. Other great pieces by ESPN include Donte Whitner from the Bills, Santonio Holmes of the Steelers, Cortland Finnegan of the Titans, LeRoy Hill of the Seahawks , Giants Justin Tuck and Carolina's Jon Beason.
Cutler threw for 3,497 yards, 20 touchdowns and didn't even know he was diabetic? Insane. This kid's a bonafide star in the making. Too bad like all the other QB's I looked at, they were all drafted or passed on by us.
I don't know if any of you have read the other ones that I posted but the piece on Donte Whitner is really something. He got hit by a car at a young age and doctors feared he wouldn't walk again. Then, at the age of 12, he had to become the man of the house after his father was sentenced to six years in prison because of attempted robbery. Those incidents and tough situations lead Whitner to football. He loves to play aggressive and tough, it showed it with his hit on Chad Johnson last season. Like they say in the article, you can't spell D-E-T-O-N-A-T-E without Donte. I know some of you don't have the time to read them but if you do find some spare time, I recommend reading the Whitner article.
