I was just toying around and came up with this. Does anyone has any ideas on how to make the moon look more 3D?
Couldn't you use the drop shadow to make it 3D? I'm not a graphics artist so forgive me if I'm completely wrong.
where are my banners!!!? just kidding/ Don't rush on those because I'm leaving on Friday and probably wont be on much for about a week anyway. thanks and put some large craters on the moon other than that its cool.
lol. your banners will be waiting when you get back. im not gonna be doing any more PS tonight. craters are a good idea. im not sure how to go about that. ill just try some different things. PS is very forgiving, i set my history memory to 50, so i can totally mess something up and then go back and fix it if i dont like it.
You could try bevel and emboss to make it appear 3D, as well as a black to white gradient overlay that will help bring out the contrast between the light and dark sides of the moon (duplicate your pic first and then cut out the moon so it is it's own layer and effects will only apply to it). A very soft outer glow would also work well, settings will depend on personal taste.

This is somethign I made a while back. It is inspired by Bruzer's tutorial. BTW, thanks for bringing those back up Bruzer!
lol funny thing that came to mind to me today, thought about actually trying that. I was thinking how to approach it hehe
found the perfect picture to match a player with a planet. I really liked Randy McMichael. as an avatar...
