How can they ask for compensation when he would be getting a promotion, isn't this against league rules?
Won't happen. Didn't they add a rule where you can't get compensation for coaches? What makes them think the NFL would start giving picks for Front Office folk.
I like the point made at the end of that article - it's not a matter of "if" some players come over, it's a matter of who and how many. I could deal with Chris Canty in a Miami Dolphins uniform.
Jeery doing whatever he can to prevent him from leaving because if he leaves he knows they are screwed, the team they have now is because of Parcells and Ireland.
It's all speculation. If he's hired with a contract that states he has final say then it's all moot no matter if even if the NFL thinks Bill will interfere. If the contract states final say then that's it. Cowboys/NFL can't do jack.
I figured they would just make up a contract saying that even though everyone and their mother knows Parcells will have final say.
I don't want Flozell here but if Parcells feels he is needed at this time then he will be here and I would like to stay away from RFA unless its Derek Anderson because this team needs all the draft picks they can get. I would like to bring Crayton in as long as they don't overpay.
Bingo. This is Jerry Jones trying to dissuade Parcells from pursuing Ireland's employment. Period. It's impotent posturing on Jones' part, and the fact that he's already doing this--in public--tells me that there's something to the rumors that Parcells wants to bring Ireland over in some capacity. Jerry, buddy, pal: just because you have an ego the size of the state your team plays in does not mean you get to dictate the rules. If Ireland is offered a higher position with the Miami Dolphins, you don't get to do a damn thing about it. Everyone knows you aren't going to make him the GM--after all, you reserve that title for yourself--thus you have no standing. Damn, I hate Jerry Jones.
Exactly. This is precisely why Bill Parcells was on Chris Mortenson's radio shot Friday night saying that the GM he brings in will have final say on all personnel decisions. He is letting it be known early that the GM will have final say on all personnel decisions to prevent anything like this from happening. Jerry Jones is doing nothing but posturing here. He thinks he can bluff Parcells into going with someone else. Bill isn't going to blink though, because to be quite honest with you, I think he will legitimately give final say on all personnel decisions to the general manager. I don't think Bill wants to day to day stress that comes with being a general manager, and therefore, he's going to bring in someone he implicitly trusts that thinks like he does. That's Jeff Ireland.
