Asked today whether he’s confident that suspended cornerback Pacman Jones will be reinstated, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones answered, “not at all.”

There has been widespread speculation that the Cowboys and Titans will work out a trade that would send Pacman to the Cowboys. Pacman said yesterday that he’ll wait on applying for reinstatement until the Titans trade him to a team that actually wants him, but Jones doesn’t sound optimistic that a trade — or Pacman’s reinstatement — will happen.

The Star-Telegram reports that Jones made the comments at a luncheon at Southern Methodist University. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was the guest speaker at the event.

“It’s pretty much just floating out there without much energy or activity around it,” Jones said of talk that Pacman will be back in the NFL and playing with the Cowboys in 2008. “It’s going to take more than just talk from Adam to get on the field.”
