Just imagine, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell walking to the podium on April 26 at about 3:10 p.m., and he says, "With the first pick of the draft the Dolphins ..." Tick. Tick. Tick. ... Silence. "The Dolphins pass and the Rams are now on the clock," Goodell continues. OK, it's highly unlikely that the Dolphins will pass on the overall first draft pick, but what if? rest of story http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/sfl-flspdol13asbapr13,0,747785.story
This scenerio pops up at least once a week. Not going to happen, even if we slipped all the way to the 5th pick, the player and agent would be looking for #1 money.
Sun Sentinal usually has better articles than that. They must really bored over there,or just tired of putting the same"Who's going to be the 1st pick" article in the paper.
This is old news that has been brought up several times recently... It seems highly unlikely that Tunaland would a) circumvent the system and b) potentially lose out on the guy they really want. I'm sure they have contingency plans in place for virtually any situation that arises. Besides that when the Fins do choose, I'm sure that whoever that guy is will demand #1 money....or at least there is a good possibility that he will. I just don't see this scenario working out or being attempted...
Nah that will never happen. The way this team is currently assembled, we need all the talent we can get. Why let the top talents let go by you when you have a chance to take them? I understand you can step in front of any team and select a player but I rather sit at the top overall pick and be like a kid at a candy store with 4 different tasting lollipops, not knowing which to choose.
There's just nothing left to ponder at this point. When there's no story to cover and still newspapers to sell, then stuff like this gets printed. To me, something like this just seems so beyond rational thinking. It's not going to happen.
Even though we would still be on the hook for the #1 pick, this tactic can only guarantee one thing, a long, protracted hold-out. While the agent and the 'Phins argue about the contract, our choice would be sitting at home, not on the practice field where we need him!
