Secondly, they are ripping Pennington having a weak arm which is pretty much a widely held opinion even from Jet land. Saying they'd rather keep McCown and Beck over Pennington because of that reason makes this them die hard Beck supporters? Your logic is baffling.
IF, Beck sits out the first preseason game and McCown gets extensive playing time, it could as likely as anything mean they hope he plays well enough that some team in need of a veteran backup (such as the Steelers) will part with a low round draft pick for him. Even with CP on board we won't cut Beck. Either we trade or cut McCown or carry 4 QBs.
I wouldnt be surprised if Beck is released. Honestly, I think its 50/50 whether its McCown or Beck. Probably whoever shows more this camp. Parcells doesnt owe Beck any chances and if Beck is still playing at an amateur level then I could see Parcells wanting two vets to play and groom his pick Henne for next year. Remember that Pennignton seems brittle at this stage so whoever the backup is has a good chance at starting at some point this season. Would he want to go with someone who continues to play like a rookie or rather a guy who has been through the wars even if he isnt the greatest general. Should be interesting to see how thios plays out
Just keep the best three QB's on the team, obviously Henne stays no matter what, and if Beck can't beat out McCown then show Beck the door, and add one more lost 2nd round pick to the history books. I prefer we kept Henne and Beck, but if Beck can't show BP & Co. enough for them to keep him, then adios John.
Those are the most sensible ways this would play out. Keeping two QBs who are about equal in development such as Beck / Henne is not something foreign to Parcells, ala Phil Simms / Jeff Hostetler.

If Favre keeps tiring out you'd better worry about how Cotchery will do with Clemens. (Too bad it's not Roger, he could probably serve as an acceptable substitute for Favre.) IMO, you should expect more running and less passing. That might even be the main reason why you traded for Favre; defenses have to respect his ability to throw deep, which makes Thomas Jones' job easier. Gimme Witten.
