Cordy Glenn OT $1,105,725 + Corey Webster CB $9,975,000 Combo package. Do not inquire about Glenn separately. It's a combo package as I want to move the still productive Webster's cap hit.
Translation: I don't want to just outright cut Webster so I am going to retain some dignity by including him as a secondary piece is another trade.
You translate poorly. I've gotten offers for Webster. Just not quite where I want it. By including Glenn....I can get over the hump with Webster. Moving his cap is a minor bonus but I have no problem walking into FA with his cap #. Just folks want to pay no more then I already paid for him. So why would I move him for the same price ;p
Yah he stuggled a bit and has a propensity to gamble but hey..14 INT's the last 3 years...4 last year (more then all Miami CB's combined). Plays better then Sean Smith who folks want re-signed here for nearly the same cash.
Im not a Sean Smith fan but damn if Smith wasnt better then Webster last year. Webster was atrocious giving up 59 catches on 96x targeted 988 yards and a 106 QBR against. Compared to Smith who gave up more td's but Webster got burnt for long td's. Smith gave up 62catches/113 targets/732 yards and an 85 qbr against. Webster gave up 16.7 yards per catch (only patrick robinson, sam shields and stanford routt were worse) where as smith gave up a full 5 yards less per catch at 11.8. So while Smith wasnt as great as he wants to think he was, Corey Webster sucked last year.
To think there is any difference between the 2 is absurd. They both gave up a high amount of 1st downs/TD's. Corey 7.49% and Smith 7.37%. The big difference is..this was an off year for Webster (and still doubled Smith's INT's). This was Sean Smith's career high. Besides...he'd be my #2 right now instead of matched up against the #1 WR. I got Josh Wilson as my #1 right now. It's also not like I'm asking a lot for Webster either. He's a throw in to jack the price up on Glenn who I've gotten close offers for...but not quite over the hump. So if I can get a boost on those Glenn offers and shed some cap. Perfect.
Theyre two completely different types of corners. The numbers may look similar in certain areas but theyre not similar players at all. Webster is a risk taker who simply has always lacked long speed to really justify that. Hes solid in zone but he requires over the top help when in man. Smith is more athletically gifted and more technically sound but has hands like bricks and couldnt catch a cold. Frankly I want neither on the Dolphins. I understand where your coming from regarding why youre throwing the idea out there. I dont mean to take a dump all over your idea. Its just hes nothing like Sean Smith. Not even remotely.
I was going to take the high road and not give my thoughts on Webster's play this year... but Boik does things differently.
Well not at their cap hits...that's for sure. I'd take em as tolerable #2's if they weren't so expensive and you have a true #1 guy. Especially considering our current CB depth. Definitely not high paid or #1's for sure.
I'll tell folks what..since they keep inquiring. I'll trade Glenn solo..........but it's not going to be lower then what he was drafted at. I'm no Ireland ;p So were talking multiple picks starting with a 2nd...or a 1 straight up. Or an equivalent talent player at another position.
I think you will have much better luck trading Glenn once some of the elite LT guys in FA get signed.
Are there going to be in this league? I can't see Sean letting Clady walk. So that leaves maybe Long...Beatty. Who else? I know there was a crap load of RT's out there.
Sebastian Vollmer - Probably gets tagged Branden Albert - Possible tag but you let Bowe walk. Sam Baker - Not likely to get the tag.
Word is they are working on a deal with Bowe in real life. But for the purposes of the league..True. Forgot about Baker. Anyways...all moot. I got my deal for Glenn. Thread did it's job ;p
I'd keep him at this point (he'd be a #2..not a #1. I have Josh Wilson for that)...but with Monroe's salary that puts me around $102 million. Factor in Byrd's tag...and that's not much for 17 players I still need to fill (4 on draft pick salaries since I still got 4 picks).
Keep dreaming. He will be kept if I don't get a 5th out of it. I've been offered a 5th for him by 2 others earlier in the process. If I could remember who I'd just re-PM them. Damn 250 pm msg limit ;p I wanted to hold out for a 4th that never happened. He'll get moved. Again...only reason I'm moving him is salary. If he was half the price..he wouldn't be on the block period.
I am already going to be a quarter of a million dollars in debt in 4 years so I don't think I can afford it anytime soon, unfortunately.
What's another $24 a year then ;p By the way I love that I'm taking crap from Gik about Webster when he has Tramon who is also in PFF's hit list for giving up first downs, Dmitri at $4.6 million with Carroll and nobody beyond that ;p At least I've got Josh Wilson and some solid depth in Brown, Rogers and Brooks ;p
...It's like $25 for a year membership. That's like chump change compared to your student debt... besides, you'll be balls deep in cash when you open your own dental practice. Get a bunch of hot dental assistants/hygienists and you'll be living the dream!
Just find it funny your sitting here telling me I'll be cutting Webster (which I won't)...when you got a $4.6 million dead weight in yours and another guy headed to Webster land ;p Maybe I'll get lucky and get some comp picks. If I can get a couple of those..that'll help keep the cost down. Any idea how that works around here anyways?
$24 * 7.9% * 4 years = $32.53 $24 * 7.9% * 3 years = $30.15 $24 * 7.9% * 2 years = $27.94 $24 * 7.9% * 1 years = $25.90 So assuming I pay all my loans off in year 1, which would never happen it would cost me about $116.52 to be in the Club Level for 4 years. Assuming it takes me 2 years after college to pay it off you are looking at $135.66. Don't get me wrong, i love this website and wish I could help support it, but I also believe in Dave Ramsey's philosophy of not spending money you don't have. I'll have to get buy for now until I join the Club in a couple of years.
We used to have a sponsor plan at some point. Wonder if we don't bring that back at some point. Looking over my depth chart. Considering all the bloated overpriced vets the Bills had.....I did a pretty good job overhauling that roster with just 6 draft picks and I still got my late rounder picks from 4-6. Only thing I probably won't be able to fill is a true #1 WR...but beyond that....pretty solid. That defense is loads better then it is right now.
Two thoughts on the bold, one joking, one serious. The joking: Pretty sure loans are also for money you don't have. The serious: I didn't realize that was a philosophy attributed to someone, I just call it common sense.
