    It doesn't surprise me at all. The folks involved in the schism are faithful and committed to the Anglican/Episcopal tradition.

    Most "Mainline Protestant" bodies are experiancing similar problems. The issue which presents itself is typically homosexuality and at what level you accept the behavior. What is truly at the core, however, is how does one view the Bible. Issues of social justice and even equality for women do have some passages in scripture which support a more modern view. Frankly there is nothing positive in scripture about same-sex intimacy. How does one get over the gap or how does one speak out in opposition to percieved immoral behavior? Presbyterians, Methodists, and Lutherans are fighting the same battle in their own ways.

    This will continue to be ugly for some time unfortunately.
