The Pro Bowl, to a lot of people, means nothing. It's a silly popularity contest that sends players off to a week in Honalulu. Fans usually dismiss it because the game itself is pointless, and coaches probably don't care for it much either considering they get almost no credit for anything. The only reason GMs care is because making the Pro Bowl usually drives up a players price tag. But for the players, it usually means a whole lot more. Imagine, if you will, being the running back from Auburn, selected at #2 overall, and you weren't even technically the starter of your own college team. Imagine seeing the starter from your college team, who was taken AFTER you, then go on to become the NFLs Rookie of the year. And then, after you start your 3rd season off racking up the yards and touchdowns, you tear your ACL. That right there could have taken down a lesser man. It could have ruined the career of a lesser person. But not Ronnie Brown. He worked hard all offseason to make sure he could play, and at a high level no less, this season. He's had to split carries, but he's still found ways to shine on the field for this team. As a player, getting selected to the Pro Bowl means you've made it. You've proved to the league, to your fellow players and coaches that you are indeed one of the best in the entire league. Congratulations Ronnie Brown, you have arrived.
Its disgusting that Favre made it. His stat line is terrible in almost every way. Hopefully he has the good graces to opt out and let someone go who deserves (Penny, Cassel or Rivers). I just cant believe people still think hes a good guy after the BS hes pulled the last few years. Great for Ronnie though, always nice to see some Phins representing. Im not sure he goes though, with the knee just 1 year removed and all. Maybe just for a few series of light duty or something.
Yeah, I'm sure he'll go... Not to mention that 15-30K they make for the game! CONGRATS RONNIE, YOU DESERVE IT! Next year I bet he gets more opportunities with the ball in carries and receptions too. I think he'll gain the most from the Parcells offseason conditioning program going forward as well. And I mean directly reflecting on his stats as a player in future seasons! MONSTER numbers next year!
Hey, don't knock it. That B.S. Favre pulled landed us a great QB of our own and has us poised for the playoffs. Who knows where we would be without Favre's BS...
