Calling Losman average at best was awful nice of you.

I want nothing to do with McNabb. On the downside of his career and I think he's just another example of a QB who looked amazing at times in Philadelphia's system, but hasn't proven anything outside of it. See also: A.J. Feeley, Kevin Kolb.

I don't see any free agent QBs or even the ones who could potentially be bartered for as being permanent solutions at the position. So I'm only in favor of those we wouldn't have to give up a draft pick for. Unless we could get Kyle Orton for a 3rd which I don't think we can.

Leinart is another cheap option with a little bit of upside.

I am not interested in McNabb. Wouldn't mind Palmer.

Not that I'm for or against him, but I have a hunch that Brady Quinn might end up in a Dolphins uniform this season. I think he and Daboll are familiar with each other from their time in Cleveland (may have my timeline wrong here)...again, just a hunch.

I'd be more secure with VY as our backup if we had an entrenched starter. but we don't, and if Henne starts to struggle again, the regime will pull Henne and put in VY. Now we're stuck with yet another QB that shows flashes of excellence, but the fanbase will always find excuses why he's not good enough (which he clearly isn't). Then we're stuck in the same scenario for the next couple of years.

Give me Palmer.
Orton will cost more than he's worth.
McNabb has a little left in the tank, but not enough to be our starter and be that effective on a team that is still developing.
Hasselback would be a terrible choice here. Injury prone, old, with a diminishing arm.
Tavaris Jackson, JP Losman, and Mark Bulger. - No thank you, no thank you, no thank you
Kevin Kolb - see Orton above.

bottom line, w/exception of Palmer, I'd rather have Thigpen as my backup over any of these guys. VY being similar effectiveness as Tyler (IMO) but carries way too much baggage.

If.... IF....VY can get his head on straight he'd be a pretty good QB. When he's on the right dose of medication he's able to help his team win games. If he can be had for cheap, I'd want the Dolphins to grab him.

Well, look at it this way, a Qb with a 30-17 record and a playoff birth under his belt, who is 27, will be on the market, can we not look at him?

Take the emotion out of it, he makes sense, and we would not have to mortgage the future to acquire him.

Miami's best bet is to resign Tyler Thigpen, and if Henne doesn't have marked improvement in 2011, make a play for Andrew Luck, Landry Jones, or Ryan Lindley next year in the draft.

valid point, but if the "emotion" or "mental" baggage is his biggest red flag, then how can we take it out of the equation when considering him as a backup QB?

No way is our team going to regress that much to get Luck. I hope not! I would take Vince Young.

Exactly. The guy basically tried to sabotoge the team once he saw that he wasnt going to be the starter, and we want him as our back up?

What I meant by emotion is just be objective, RW had pot problems and was hated amongst dolfans, and yet he comes back to distrust, a 1,300 season later..RW is one of the greatest Running Backs in Dolfans history!

Strip the "I hate him personally for what he did back when" and just be objective, does the VY from 06-08 make the Dolphins a better football team?

Titans came off of a 13-3 season with K Collins at Qb, he opened up the next season terribly poorly, in comes VY, Titans go something like 7-2 with Young at the helm, next season Fisher was looking for any excuse to not play him.

The Titans aimed to equal or improve on their 2008 NFL best 13–3 record; however, they lost the first 6 games of that season. The Titans won 7 out of their next 8 games before a 42–17 loss to the Chargers in Week 16 eliminated the team from playoff contention.

Guess who was their Qb on that 7-1 run? And that was only 2009, in 2010 Fisher yanked him from the lineup by week 6 of 2010 Young was no longer the Starter.

It took Mike Vick going to jail and losing all his money to wake his sorry ass up. I lived in Atlanta, just couple of miles from Vick, up until right before he was busted. I still would not want Vick QBing this team.

And Ricky Williams took significant time off from football to get his head on straight. I never "hated" Ricky Williams. I understood he had some mental issues that needed to be sorted out and he needed the right environment to function well.

Both those guys took time off (voluntarily or involuntarily) to get their heads back on straight. IMO, VY has even farther to go to get to the same level of maturity. I don't see it happening here as our backup, ESPECIALLY, when fans start clamoring for him to start over Henne.

That is emotion though OF, winning is always better than losing.

KB, finally we agree on something!!! I want no part of Vince Young. He's squandered his talents. He doesn't have the mental makeup to be a starting QB in the NFL. He is a waste.

I'd take a flyer on McNabb or Hasslebeck. Carson Palmer is toast.

there's a BIG difference between time away from the game and time spent on the bench bellyaching because you think you deserve to start.

GH, There is no VG answer here or they would not be available. I see McNabb as the best choice but, REALLY hope that Henne proves out to be our best option and imroves as most thought he would last year.

So Carson Palmer is toast, but McNabb or Hasselback are not toast? On a toast scale of 1-10, Palmer is a 7, McNabb is an 8, Hasselback is a 9.

Your right padre. Every player should lobby to start. But, if they are riding the bench, doing it unprofessionally can disrupt the team and that ticks me off.
Henne isn't an all-pro by any means. but IMO, he has a shot to perform better than VY, then I easily see VY complaining and disrupting team chemistry.
