Telling the press the locker room doesn't want a player, a player that the FO is looking to reinstate and have rejoin your locker room. That's not harmful in any way, shape or form?

Oops, Roman beat me to it.

And he shouldn't be allowed to say that because ...? Because of the big and nasty lockerroom controversy that never materialized once Ricky came back? Because of the fact that the US have abandoned free speech? Oh wait ... they haven't. Neither was there any harm done to the Miami Dolphins. And I find it quite telling that his statement that he would embrace Ricky Williams as a teammate if he came back somehow never gets quoted. Despite the fact that Feely did exactly that.

It doesn't matter. Free speech? What the heck? This isn't a constitutional law discussion regarding time place and manner. This is underming the FO's efforts.

Hes supposed to be a players rep for flips sake! You cant discriminate against him because hes got a union job speaking up for players that hes designated to represent. Personally i think its because maybe Carpenter will be just as good and his kickoffs may be better. Maybe just maybe.

How is saying that you, personally, wouldn't want Ricky as a teammate undermining the efforts of the FO to get him reinstated? Did I miss the rule saying "no player shall be reinstated as long as Jay Feely doesn't want him along"? The guy was on a show and got asked a question to which he gave an honest answer. Maybe that's just me again, but I prefer honest answers over blatant lies. It's funny actually; here's the FO cutting a player over an explanation everyone - especially the folks agreeing with the cut - know to be a blatant lie. Yet it's not the FO getting the heat but the player - for an honest answer. It doesn't get much more absurd than that.

PR equals players rep, not public relations. Not sure what one has to do with the other. he represents the dolphins at union meetings and on union matters.

Its not underming the FO efforts to get him reinstated, it's underming the FO's authority and leadership structure. You don't have to lie. You say, "no comment" "that's for the FO to decide" 'I'm not the GM" shall I keep going?

Sorry, not buying that. A statement like "I don't particularly want someone like Ricky on my team but if the FO decides to bring him in, I'll embrace him because it's their decision to make" undermines no authority at all. If an FO loses authority over statements like this, it didn't have any to begin with.

Oh please. Everyone knows it's a "yes" anyway so you might as well have the guts to say it properly.

As an aside, I find it somewhat ironic that some of the very same people who are calling Feely a loudmouth now were carrying torches and pitchforks in Saban's lynch mob :wink2:

Saban? Wow out of left field.

But you don't have to include me in that list. Search for my name and Saban. You'll find posts by about him. No animousity for him at all, even some praise. I mean, he screwed the phins, but its water under the bridge to me :)

And then what happens with Ricky and Feely when Ricky is back? You don't think that creates any animosity? Or that other players who like Ricky will have issues with what Feely said? What make an issue out of it when it doesn't need to?

If you ask me, Feely wants attention. He wants to get on ESPN. He wants to be a celebrity. And if Parcells doesn't want his QB to be one, he sure as hell doesn't want a kicker to be one.

Reminds me of that beer commercial where everyone is poppin champagne and the kicker starts spraying beer. They tie him up.

I didn't. It was merely a general observation that Saban got killed for taking exactly the approach you (and a lot of others) suggested.

No, I don't. Ricky's about the last person on the planet having issues with someone being outspoken and honest.

Actually, I think that being honest and upfront avoids animosity. Personally, I much rather deal and work with honest people than with ones saying the "right" things publicly and the rest behind my back.
