He wasn't there today. They had on Mike barnicle as the host. But you are right..I can't quit his show. O'Reilly BTW gave Carlin a brief tribute. he had him on his show before it seems.
Did you catch Jim Cramer on Hardball? He seemed to be very much in favor of drilling. And he bashed Obama for being in the pocket of the ethanol lobby. Very interesting.
I would celebrate what he said had I not seen him Lie through his teeth this weekend on The Chris Matthews Show (right after MTP)...oddly enough.
I've been in a shocked state of mourning since I woke up today and read that one of my all time heroes had died. I've never been hit harder by the death of someone I didn't know. The world is darker without him. I miss him already. Anyway, another great article, this one written by Kevin Smith. When I was younger it was my dream to make movies, ones in which I'd find a role for George Carlin. Luckily, since I'm still not a filmmaker, Kevin Smith beat me to the punch.
Honestly, George Carlin was my biggest hero. His mastery of the English language, his timing, his observations and his unique view of religion, politics, and the world in general did a great deal to shape how I think, how I laugh, and how I just plain don't take s**t from anyone. Yesterday was a very long day for me. I'm sure like many others, I feel like I've lost a friend and mentor, even though I've never met the man. I got to see him live twice. The last time was a few years ago. I was working for the venue where he did his act, and I was his spotlight operator. In hindsight, I should have insisted upon meeting him. George, you changed the world. You will be dearly, dearly missed.
Heads up for all fellow Carlin fans...HBO is airing 11 of his specials tomorrow and Thursday night. Here's the schedule.
from listening to a lot of Carlin quotes, stories, and sound-bites, I've come to see a similarity that my brother has to him. in their intellectual superiority, they show a personal superiority and enlightenment. intelligence and experience, with the ability to conduct a conversation, and manage to listen and learn constantly. not just to spew, because they can. to be aware and at peace with a view that opposes their own. not to be so blunt a person, to assume the final and end all of knowledge has been achieved. RIP- George.
i still cant believe he was mr. conductor or whatever... from shining time station, with thomas the tank engine george carlin on a kids show... haha too funny. A radio station i listen to all the time, their morning show has been playing alot of Carlin stuff every morning, its been awesome... what a shame he's gone..
