Thanks to Datruth for doing the work.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 20m
The Dolphins have 36 tryout guys here for rookie camp.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 18m
There are two kickers here on tryouts. New Mexico's Greg Rivara, and West Texas A&M's Sergio Castillo.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 17m
Florida Atlantic's Cory Henry (DE), TE Darion Howard, and UCF's WR Jeffrey Godfrey are tryout guys.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 14m
Two tryout quarterbacks - Oklahoma State's Clint Chelf and Minnesota State's Jonathan Wolf are the tryout QBs.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 8m
Got to admit, Walt Aikens, who is working at cornerback has some good size to him. Not Sean Smith size, but it's solid.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 6m
Brock Jensen throwing first passes of #Dolphins rookie minicamp. On far side of field, just drills.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 33s
Dolphins D-lineman Anthony Johnson, the undrafted guy from LSU, doesn't wow me with his size. Tryout guy Micajah Reynolds is bigger.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
For those wondering, Walt Aikens is 6-foot-1, 209 pounds. We'll see if he can run and backpedal now.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · now
There's a whole roster of rookies here and I'm thinking 9 max make the 53 man roster.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 30s
It appears Dolphins D-line coach Kacy Rodgers is in one of those scooters people use at the grocery store.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 42s
Yeah...Walt Aikens moves pretty well. fluid hips.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 15s
The Dolphins QBs are working on their quick hitch throws, which was a staple of the Eagles offense. Low percentage throw, like a run.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 7s
#Dolphins rookies. Mostly try-out guys although 4th round pick Walt Aikens (No. 35) is with this group. pic.twitter.com/KZgCw9ltbH

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 35s
Dolphins linebacker are working on contact at point of attack.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 24s
#Dolphins fourth round pick Walt Aikens

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 57s
Jordan Tripp is working as an INSIDE LINEBACKER. My jaw has dropped.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 23s
Tariq Edwards and Marcus Thompson are the outside linebackers paired with Jordan Tripp.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 13s
I'm watching new receiver routes and drills. This is interesting. Plenty of choppy steps involved. I'm intrigued.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · now
Because this is more of a tryout camp for the unsigned rookies Jawuan James and Billy Turner are being held out of team. So is Walt Aikens.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 10s
Jarvis Landry, Walt Aikens, Jordan Tripp are also being held out of team work during rookie camp.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 23s
Focus at rookie minicamp today is on the undrafted and tryout guys. Draft picks have been working out with vets.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 39s
Andrew Wilson just broke up a pass to the slot receiver on a quick hitter.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 13s
All the draft picks have been practicing with the team so we're informed they are being held out of team work during rookie camp

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 3s
#Dolphins rookie CB Walt Aikens getting some 1-on-1 attention.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 20s
Okay....this does look a little like the Eagles offense. I'll admit it. but it's one day. Calm down.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 32s
Nice run by Damien Williams, the undrafted rookie from Oklahoma during team session one.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 3s
Tyler Larsen is doing a pretty decent job holding the point after his snap. Then again, who is he facing? Big difference when Starks coming

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 47s
@PoldiAnslinger Yep only today is open to media. (I didn't know that)

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 39s
Just got a glimpse of Brock Jensen making a necessary NFL throw....not pleased. No zip to it. Dropped on him.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 16s
The Dolphins have Walt Aikens lining up opposite Brent Grimes' side. Intriguing

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 18s
Back to back reps and Jarvis Landry falls badly on a poorly thrown pass, then Matt Hazel drops an easy out.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
Looks like Jordan Tripp and Andrew Wilson are both splitting reps at middle linebacker. I love it.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 20s
That means if Jordan Tripp remains Dannell Ellerbe's understudy Jelani Jenkins is the main competitor for Philip Wheeler for WLBer

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 42s
I know this is day one, but Brock Jensen will need A LOT of work to challenge Pat Devlin.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · now
Jarvis Landry just made a nice catch from Brock Jensen. Looked like OJ McDuffie, who is sitting next to me. "I like him," McDuffie says.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 9s
Brock Jensen threw a 30-yard floater along the sidelines to Travis Van Leeuwen. Maybe I spoke too soon on him.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 24s
A lot of passes are going to the H-backs. There's a 40 here who is making plays. We just have no clue who he is.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · now
#Dolphins rookie CB Aikens walks off field with trainers.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 46s
Looks like Walt Aikens was walked off the field with trainers. Hot day.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 21s
Steven Clarke, the DB from Vanderbilt, has a little wiggle as a returner.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 16s
Figured it out. Player No. 40 is fullback Emmanuel Ogbuehi, who finished the season on the practice squad. He was balling today.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 8s
Jarvis Landry is working on his release from the line....but as a gunner on Special teams.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 54s
Garrison Smith just pancake Patrick Michael Eger, drawing a flag. Not a way to impress during a tryout.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 22s
Joe Philbin did not participate in rookie camp because of a personal matter.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 31s
Philbin was I'll today not at practice

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 1m
Hickey will talk to media in Philbin's place.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 41s
"Moving the draft back has changed our timetable...our rookies have already had 8 practices with our veterans," Dennis Hickey said.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 18s
Dennis Hickey said Joe Philbin is addressing a family situation, and his absence is a one day thing.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
"They have done an outstanding job so far," Dennis Hickey said of the rookie O-linemen.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 44s
Dennis Hickey said Billy Turner's "nasty demeanor" is one of the first things he noticed when looking at his film.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
Dennis Hickey said he envisions Jarvis Landry as both and inside and outside guy, and to contribute on special teams.

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
Dennis Hickey wouldn't rule out signing another linebacker. "We're always looking to improve our roster."

    Omar Kelly @OmarKelly · 1m
"He can block, but he can catch the ball and run routes. He's really a smart player," Dennis Hickey said of Arthur Lynch.

    Andrew Abramson @AbramsonPBP · 1m
Hickey Hickey says Landry can return kicks

Man, Philbin must be really really sick to miss first day of a rookie minicamp.

I could have told you before this started that Omar Kelly was going to try and pick Brock Jensen apart, based on previous conversations with him.

Nice to see Jensen making some passes that even had to make Omar reconsider though.

    Specifically says a family matter.

And they say the rookies have already had 8 practices with the team so it sounds like this is just the first practice open to the media.

When the MVP is a fullback who seemed to be constantly catching checkdown passes, the lesson I take from that is the offense's potential emphasis on throwing to targets out of the backfield.

    Landry returning kicks??

And yes maybe Tripp inside is a sign of something I'm waiting for: Jelani Jenkins beating out Phil Wheeler. A happy end to the offseason.

James and Turner look to have good symmetry within their frame, they don't look to have fat deposits in any one particular place, and I like seeing the veins in James calves..good sign.

I'm not gonna trip on Tripp, he's light, but he's fast, and so is Mosley, and so is Shazier..Mosley looks like a safety..we'll see when the lights come on what this dude is all about...I'm going full homer on him...pure denial of any weaknesses and full fledged optimism that he's gonna flash the moment he takes the field.

It definitely seems like they were going for a certain sort of LB in the draft. Tripp actually beat Shazier in the 3-cone at the combine, as well as tying with AJ Hawk for the best LB 20 yard shuttle since 2006. Doesn't really mean anything if he doesn't use it on the field, but what a great thing it'd be if he could somehow contribute. That would change the whole D...I know it is a longshot, but I have been hoping since he was drafted.

Could be good news. Means they want to make sure they can justify having him active on gamedays.

Or could be bad news, if they aren't projecting him to be worth starting just on WR contributions and coverage teams alone.

Hope he can tackle and play STs. It's between Matthews and Landry to see who is active on gamedays, imo.

I know nothing about this guy as a player, but after watching this and the videos of his draft training I can't help but like the man. Seems like a smart, focused, hard working dude. Can't wait to see what he does on the field for us.
