Well now that football is winding down, the actual playing of it anyway, time to talk some college basketball. What are some of you guys' teams that you pull for? How's things going for your particular team?

For me I've been a UNC Tarheel fan since I was about 6, everyone who knows me know I love my Phins and Heels. Things have been going pretty well in recent years with winning the championship in 2005 and last season in 2009. This year however has been a little rocky. Toward the bottom of the ACC standings but still a lot of basketball to play and Roy Williams is still the coach. They just lost a lot of players from last year's team and leadership, and this season they've even had to deal with a few injuries. They're really young though and there's been some bright spots, hoping things can begin to gel a little as they get more games under them and conference schedule kicks into full gear.

    UNM Lobos baby.
We got Steve Alford, and we got the PIT.
We've beaten 4 top-20 teams, which might not be a big deal for some teams, but keep in mind this is New Mexico.
Interesting story, they are doing HuGE renovations to the pit after this season, and none other than Alum Danny Granger of the Pacers. He is throwing in 500,000 smackers to help the program that helped him.

Not sure if they still do but ESPN 2 used to show a lot of Mountain West games late at night (late for EST'ers that is) and I'd catch a lot of the games. Some impressive teams and players playing in that conference, watched a few home UNM games and the atmosphere was pretty crazy.

Well for starters, the Mountain west is currently smashing the Pac-10 not only in head to head, but rankings. We are currently the best league in the West.
BYU (Who the Lobos beat this last week) was the quickest team to 20 wins, the Lobos as I mentioned have now beaten 4 top 20 teams, and only have 1 Senior on the team, and both San Diego State and UNLV have very solid teams.

As for the Pit, absolutely incredible place to be a part of. It has been often mentioned as the biggest home court advantage in College Basketball. In fact Lutie Olson refused to play anymore games there after the Lobos repeatedly beat his prized Mildcats there.
EDIT: BTW: We have a member in here that is a HUGE Lobo fan (RedPitSea) and has a great lobo site as well....its been entirely too long since I visited in there....

My basketball team is doing pretty well ...

I actually live in Manhattan though, so I root for K-State as well. Both teams have been flirting with the Top 10. Last night's game was the best basketball game I've seen played this season.

I can honestly say, good to see Kansas (As a state, and no, not just State) kicking butt in B-Ball again.... Power is coming back to where it belongs :hi5:

My team is pretty kickass right now too. I'd say best in the country good. :)

I love College Hoops almost as much as the NFL. And there is nothing in sports better than the NCAA Tourney IMO.

I am Gators fan which may shock a few of u. This season has been one of alot of close calls. Played great teams well and some ok teams bad. Erving Walker is amazing for his size. Vernon Maclin really helping us at Center allowing Tyus to go to PF.

Good basketball is only allowed in the state of North Carolina!

But yeah Kanas is doing well and Syracuse as well, though I doubt I'd give them credit for best in the country. :P UNC played against Syracuse, Texas, and Kentucky all on the road (rough schedule), all pretty tough teams. WVU will be a rough out come tournament time.

UNC dropped another conference game at home, going be a long Feb/March if they don't get their act together. Or short March I guess..

I don't know who else it would be. Unless the pollsters decide to go with Purdue.

I'm interested to see how far both UK and KU drop in the polls. Both still appear to be on target for #1 seeds, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility to see Duke and/or KSU leapfrog one or both of them.

    I'm thinking it will be:
    1. Syracuse
    2. purdue (finally healthy and still winning)
    3. Kentucky (can't bury a team for losing to a ranked conference rival)
    4) Kansas (better then duke and better rpi)
    5) Duke

Well Purdue lost today and I think with selection Sunday they let injuries play into whether a team makes it or not and what seed they get. So if they don't win the Big 10 tournament and Duke wins the ACC tournament, or does well in it, I think they'll take a number one seed.

As I said, my team is UNC and having a rough year, but went to their game this past Saturday that they won. :yahoo:

If Ohio St wins the Big 10 tournament they would be the #1 seed.

Thinking about it more we would probably be the 2nd seed.
