Check out the above video by band called Creaky Boards. The clip plays a Creaky Boards tune that sounds frighteningly like the new Coldplay single, “Viva La Vida," that you’ve seen in that iTunes commercial from their hit album of the same name.

The singer, Andrew, introduces himself and plays both songs back to back, noting the similarities and pointing out that Coldplay singer/songwriter Chis Martin attended one of the band’s shows last year.

For more info. on the story go HERE.

The song does sound similar, and that guy has quite the pornstache.

You couldn't pay me to listen to that Creaky garbage, whereas Viva La Vida to me is the song of the year. And this is coming from someone who listens mostly to Hip Hop & Reggae.....

When you ripoff Chris Martin's singing style, isn't it inevitable that one of your songs would end up sounding the same. This is like Scott Stapp accusing Eddie Vedder of plagiarism.

Some similarities, but I not enough to win a lawsuit imo. That Cold Play album has some pretty good songs on it, including the one in question.

Def. could have been an inspiration for their song, but as since the chorus and lyrics are different, I don't see how he could win any sort of lawsuit for intellectual copyright issues...If it was my song they ripped off like that, all I would want is a thank you in the liner notes about where the idea and initial melody for the song came from. That would be enough for me.

Also, you can tell the difference b/w top-notch talent and production, and mid-level execution of a good musical idea.

Alot of songs sound similar...but ripoff? Some probably, most no.

Ever hear what people say was the original version of "Stairway to Heaven"?

Zeppelin toured with a band called Spirit back in the 60's, before Stairway was written. Spirit had a song called "Taurus".

Ripoff? You decide.
