As everyone knows, I do not buy for a minute that Miami drafted Pat White to be a quarterback that can push Chad Henne. I always felt that Miami saw Pat White as a player that could be a focal point in their wild cat package who has the athleticism to offer potential at other positions on the field in the base packages.

The fact is, Pat White just isn't a good enough passer to be a quarterback, and I heard something on ESPN today that supports my view of that. They did a Big East breakdown and talked about West Virginia and replacing Pat White this season. They said that the new coaching staff with Bill Stewart and offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen felt that teams were figuring out their run fakes and they wanted to get more sophisticated with their passing offense to counteract that. The report stated that it took Pat White a long time to catch on with the passing ideas and that WVU wasn't able to really open things up passing wise. The reports says that the coaching staff at WVU feels that their new QB, Jarrett Brown, is actually a better fit for what they want to do with the passin ggame. Jarrett Brown is 6'4", 220 lbs and has a better arm than Pat White. In WVU's spring game, Jarrett completed his first 15 passes an 21 of 28 overall. Reports have West Virginia throwing the ball down the field more often in practice and they are planning bigger things with the passing game this season.

Now, to me, if Pat White were capable, they would have opened up the passing offense with him. Pat White is what he is. He is one of the better running quarterbacks in NCAA history. However, like most running quarterbacks, his ultimate position in the NFL will be one that showcases his athleticism.
