Classic game on NFL Network

Poor Jim Bates. Never did get that opportunity did he? I think that's a shame. There are far less capable guys than him who've been given coaching jobs since.

Also agreed. Thought he earned a shot in Miami quite frankly. He sure as hell couldn't have been any worse than Wanny, Saban or Cameron.

 

Maybe he never really pursued it afterwards? Maybe he didn't interview well. Sometimes that is what it comes down to. Look at Mike Singletary, personally I thought he should have had a shot at least 2-3 years before he took over in SF. He interviewed several times, but never got the job. Maybe he was too intense for people in suits and ties.

But once he got a chance, everyone could see he MADE that team respond, and his coaching allowed him to stay. After people saw what he did, it didn't matter what else he didn't do well - like maybe interview.

This is all speculation, but those stupid little things sometimes get in the way. Me personally, I want a nasty SOB as a coach - that way he WILL make the tough decision and move on.

I've re-watched this game several times. Def a classic. Crazy **** happens in the Orange jerseys.

The best part of this telecast actually occurred before kickoff...

I cannot wait to see this game again! I remember being so freaking pumped screaming and running around my house watching Ricky go nuts that night!

All NFL Films are amazing...I can watch anything it produces.

The story of the '68 JETS is on...and aside from it being about the JETS...the story and history and more importantly the "back story" is top notch.

This game helped ease the pain of the 2004 season a little. Little did we know, the worst pain aka 2007 had yet to come.
