Per rotoworld.... The Eagles have hired Chip Kelly as their head coach. Owner Jeffery Lurie and GM Howie Roseman pull a rabbit out of their hat, landing their No. 1 choice ten days after he reportedly "decided to stay at Oregon." Expect the contract numbers and organizational power to be gargantuan, but it's fair to wonder if Kelly received new information regarding potential NCAA sanctions in the last week. Regardless, the Eagles' next trick will be finding a quarterback to play in Kelly's innovative, up-tempo, spread scheme. It's already been suggested that incumbent Nick Foles will not fit. Perhaps Michael Vick, previously expected to be cut within the next couple weeks, will be willing to return with a massive pay-cut. The fact that he pulled a Saban speaks as to he truly is as a person. He'll run from the pros as fast as he can when things go south.
yeah I'm floored by this. Imagining Vick in his offense... could be amazing. Could be a circus. They are swinging for the fences though.
Im not sure hes going to run that offense. I think hes aware that running QB's have a shorter shelf life at this level and tend to get hurt more frequently. Ill be intrigued to see what he does....
When Lou Holtz arrived in NJY puke green, he had run the option at WI..and then he realized he had Joe Namath at Qb Run the blur..please, especially vs a physical and fast team like the 49ers..if ESPN still had it: "You got jacked up!!!"
This is an interesting development from per rotoworld: CSN Philly reports new Eagles coach Chip Kelly is targeting Georgia's Todd Grantham to be his defensive coordinator. It's a bit out of left field, as Kelly and Grantham have no obvious connection, and Grantham has never coordinated at the NFL level. He was an NFL assistant from 1999-2009, however. He most recently served as the Cowboys DL coach from 2008-09. Grantham runs a 3-4 defense, which means the Eagles would likely be switching from their current 4-3. That's believed to be Kelly's preference regardless of whom he hires
So who can we poach? Georgia's DC leaving would be great for Clemson's current and 2014 recruiting cycle. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Heck, just the notion of it could cause some damage. Here's hoping. lol
Actually who we can poach was my first thought. It depends on whether they think Brandon Graham and Trent Cole are 4-3 DE's only or they can make the conversion. I think Cole may come available.
