The Dolphins are interested in several Virginia Tech players and sent at least three officials to their Pro Day on Thursday -- more than the norm. Defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers studied four big linemen -- Barry Booker, Chris Ellis, Carlton Powell and Kory Robertson.

Receivers coach Karl Dorrell watched Eddie Royal, Justin Harper and Josh Morgan. There's also cornerback Brandon Flowers and linebacker Xavier Adibi (who, at 230, is smaller than the Dolphins' prototype at that position).

    • Among second-round quarterback possibilities, Miami is showing the most interest in Michigan's Chad Henne. The Dolphins, who have a private workout with Henne on Tuesday, haven't scheduled one with Delaware's Joe Flacco.

    • Virginia coach Al Groh -- who served as an assistant under Bill Parcells with the Giants, Patriots and Jets - said Friday one of the appealing things about Chris Long, whom Miami is considering for the No. 1 pick, is that he's ``very versatile physically and mentally. Teams likely would be able to do a number of different things with him. . . . Over the years, a majority of players turned out to be outstanding 3-4 linebackers in the NFL who were college defensive ends.''

I think Al Groh is heads on. I think Jake Long, Vernon Gholston, Matt Ryan, Glenn Dorsey, and Sedrick Ellis are all interesting prospects but Chris Long is the head of the class.

I see day in and out people say they love him because of his motor, relentlessness, toughness, intensity, etc. Let's not forget that the guy is of football pedigree (Son Of Howie Long) and most importantly is a very very very good football player. Maybe the traits such as his intenisty contribute to the guy being a good football player but that is what is important. The guy is determined to be the best and no one can question his work ethic. With Chris Long you can tell that he wants to be great; you can tell he plays the game b/c it's his passion, not just for a paycheck. The guy is so versatile that it is scary to think how good he will be in Parcell's defense. I don't see the "bust" potential that I have seen with many #1 overall selections. For Example, I think Jamarcus Russell will never be a good NFL QB. I think his arm strength is out of this world but the bottom line is that he is not smart, he seems lazy, and to me he doesn't have that it factor that seperates him from the pact. Maybe I will be wrong, if I'm wrong then I think the Miami Dolphins got it wrong.

Chris Long on the field, off the field, anywhere is the best player in this draft and when you pick first, you take the best just like you did in elementry school. It's elementry.

    CHRIS LONG

I love VA Tech's talent especially on D. I am a big fan of Adibi as he seems to be a playmaker and around the ball whenever you need a play. Chris Ellis and Brandon Flowers are also good players. I dont know much about their receivers aside from Royal. I believe I heard that Josh Morgan ( Hes the 6'4 one right?) could be a steal for any team that takes him.

I rather not take a QB early. If they want a QB, I think we should take Flynn in the later part of the rounds.

BP get CL here now! pretty please with cherries on top
