I'll watch it, most of the roasts have been funny as hell. Takes someone that can laugh at themselves to make it a good roast, have to see how he handles it. I think Charlie Sheen is stupid and crazy, but I do think he's funny as well. Some of his movies and shows have been really funny at times.
I read somewhere they are actually airing it the same night as the season premiere of Two and a Half Men. This will be gold.
Roasts used to be a venue for real wit and cleverness. Now it's all shock value, who can curse the most or tell the grossest joke. It's artless. Watch one of the old Friars' Club roasts to see how it was done with just a rapier wit, not a sledgehammer.
Lisa Lampanelli had one of the best lines on any of the roasts, unbelievably not resorting to the shock value and gorss out value. She got up at the roast of Gene Simmons and said: “What do you call a man who’s a true rock & roll icon? What do you call a man whose songs will live forever in the hearts of millions of fans? What do you call a man who’s inspired countless young people to pursue their dream of making a difference in the world? You call that man John Lennon. But he’s dead, and all we have is this untalented windbag.”
