Chad Pennington willing to return to New York Jets to backup Mark Sanchez

"I'd be crazy not to be interested," the current Dolphin said at a youth-football clinic, one of many NFL-sponsored events during Super Bowl week. "Once you think you're too big where you can't entertain every opportunity, you'd better be careful because you'll be looking from the outside in."

IMO He was pretty much saying, that he would listen, but it would not be his first option or even close.

He said he would considerate it not push for it.If he cant get a job here or anywhere else as a starter and he still wants to play he would go there, its common sense.

I'm pretty sure Pennington already made it clear his first option would be Miami.
Actually, I think he's saying his first option is to continue playing football, even if it means playing second string. If Miami doesn't want him then he will look elsewhere - and that includes listening to the Jets' offer should one come.
But again he stated he would prefer to stay here.

Jeez. An out of work guy trying to take a job?

    What a jerk.

Seems a bit hypocritical to get mad at the guy for signing with a rival - when that is how we signed him in the first place.

If we can't offer him a roster spot we can't complain.

I'm sure that would be a last resort after the way they treated him before. But you'd have to think if it came down to that or retiring before he's ready he'd probably go back.

I wouldn't read too much into that. He'd be a fool to burn any bridges at this point but I think we all know where he'd prefer playing.

I think the FrontOffice brings him back
& allows him to compete for the start,
    on the condition
that he accepts the backup position
if he doesn't win the competition
Pennington brings too much to the table
as a player/coach on our offense
it would be a very bad thing to lose him
    especially to another division rival

competition is the elixir of success

I don't see why he wouldn't entertain an offer from the Jets. The Cabbage Patch Doll aka Eric Mangini is no longer in charge in New York, but I also can't see a man with the class of Pennington wanting to play for a classless coach like Ryan.

admire the guys honesty. It's a business and if the Jets made him an offer and given limited years left he could possibly play/get paid nothing wrong with it.

Don't see why anyone should be concerned if Miami's got nothing to offer why should anyone be concerned

came out in the papers today that the FrontOffice was interested in bringing Pennington back, depending on his shoulder healing properly & his willingness to play backup if he cannot win the start. Pennington said he wants to return even as a backup, if that was the issue. beginning to look like we'll be shopping Thigpen.
