Yes, another Henne thread. However, this one isn't questioning his abilities or calling for his benching. This thread is about the progress you want to see in a young quarterback. Let's take a look at Henne's 2009 season, his first season as a starter in the NFL. His line: 60.8% 205.5 yard average per game 6.4 YPA 75.2 QBR. He was handed the reigns of the offense coming into this season, and through 4 games his line... 64.4% 240.2 yard average per game 7.3 YPA 86.1 QBR. That is SIGNIFICANT improvement in every number. Now I know stats don't tell the whole story but to me it shows how well Henne is progressing and how he has played pretty well so far this season. Are there things that needed to be worked on? Absolutely. He tends to stare down receivers too much and sometimes rushes his decision, but nothing unexpected from a young quarterback with only 17 games under his belt. Chad Henne is making very nice progress and is on the right path. He's shown that when he has to he can make the plays needed to win games and carry the offense. We were all so high on Henne coming into this season, and there is absolutely no reason to be disappointed. The progress is there.
He is capable, now I just want some consistency. He should be torching bad D's and being competitive against the good ones. He seems to be a streaky guy, and that needs to even out - both game by game and within the game itself. He will start super hot (Pats) or super cold (Jets) then flop as the game wears on.
Henne will be fine. Don't forgot that not only is he battling the other team's defense but the wildcat, lack of special teams, and shotty inside line play as well. Plus we are 2-2 and have a whole season to play.
Lasers. You need lasers. You can't just light a robot on fire. Also, should I bring some grillin beans?
Look at Eli Manning's stats and how he progressed. I think people are expecting too much, too soon. http://www.nfl.com/players/elimanning/profile?id=MAN473170
Our fans need to realize that Marino is not walking onto that field. We need to stop with the "next Marino" bull****.
Here is the real problem with Henne's numbers... Miami has scored 13 points offensively in week 1, 7 points in week 2, 23 points in week 3, and 14 points in week 4. That = 14.25 offensive ppg. And he now has a WR named Brandon Marshall who is generally considered top 3 in the league.
No argument there. Definitely been a factor... I also have seen Henne look tentative and hold on to the ball too long resulting in a sack or missed opportunities.
Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Please enlighten us, at exactly how many starts should a QB have before we can say: (I want specific numbers with evidence to back them up) 1. Progress isn't enough. 2. He's a bust. 3. He's elite. 4. He's average. 5. He won't improve.
You really misunderstood my joke. You mad at me from POFO? I thought we were tighter than that. I'm sad now.
I did miss your joke. I'm not however mad at you at all. I also don't like when you want to be the big spoon.
Thank you. Marino was fun to watch but even he couldn't win us a championship. We were fortunate enough to have one Danny Boy; the odds of us seeing another "top tier QB in NFL history" any time soon are not in our favor. What people are failing to realize is that Henne is one of the most promising young QB's drafted over the past 3-4 years.... and giving up on him absolutely boggles my mind. Chances of drafting a better QB are slim to none, and if the 08 draft were redone, Chad would possibly be a top 10 pick IMO (maybe #8 to Jax???).
i am so sick of this argument. stop looking @ Snatchez in eval Henne. itis lame. to do that means snatchez would be w/o an int here and we would be 4-0. NOT TRUE. at least solely based on what he has done w/ jets. because A doesnt mean B. jets have more seasoned leaders. Edwards has a full yr w/ them. lt is seasoned vocal vet. defense is established and seasoned. like it oor not we r 1/2 yr behind as far as gelling and maturation as a team
