http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...henne-1127-20101126,0,5922156.story?track=rss Kid has some balls after having his kneecap facing sideways just a few weeks ago.
Kid is a leader. Two weeks ago his knee cap looked like a Picasso painting, his season seemingly done. After being benched, mangled and turned into an afterthought, he comes back two weeks later. To quote T.O., "That's my quarterback." (wipes tears away). Now hopefully that makeshift O-line can stay together and upright long enough to let him do his thang.
I hope he comes out and lights it up. The kid has guts and I would love to see him shut up the naysayers!
I've heard it both ways, BSPN says Thigpen, OmarK says Henne. Could care less, just win the game, though a part of me wants to see what Henne can do with a bad wheel.
Not sure if it matters, Oakland seems to be coming together while we seem to be falling apart. I just feel some douchbag like Seymore will take a cheap shot at his knee if he is effective.
Raiders got spanked last night, and Big Ben said something to Seymore, and I loved the fact he decked him. One problem is the Raiders have gotten healthier the past week.
They also: Are sitting J Ford for Darius Hayword Bey Lost their pass rushing DE Trevor Scott and replaced him with a street FA Zach Miller's foot is not close to 100% Nnamdi is at "about "90%" And Rolando McClain has been a disappointment, I think their "#3 against the pass" ranking has more to do with their being 24th against the run, why throw it when you can run it? Their Qb issues are as large as ours are as well.
I really hope we run the hell out of the ball. Henne's presence alone even without Marshall will make them back off more than if Thigpen is in the game. If Henne is able to take advantage of the early heavy box fronts I expect to see early in the game.
They really have to commit to it but Henning won't. If we are in another winnable game and run the ball 10 times and throw it 40 times I am going to lose my mind. Baltimore and Chicago are classic examples of Henning ball in 2010.
Well, if Henne does get the start it may make more sense to pass the ball from the shotgun as handing off requires more mobility and timing.
Good to hear, Thigpen just isn't a consistent starter in this league. Henne gives us the best chance to win a game at this point.
Well a banged up OL a banged up QB and our best WR out....can we say max protect? lol well i'm sure Henning will call 35 pass plays.
no kidding... that and a bunch of bootlegs for our qb with one leg... as opposed to the minimal rolling he did with the elusive Thigpen at qb...
So you firmly believe you can win with a QB who got no reps by running the football six times? You can't win games like that..... come on now.
while im not thrilled with our season, we have not lost a game i was sure we were going to win. And in fact we've won one game i was certain we were going to lose (green bay). A lot of our disappointment this season has come from the fact that we couldn't beat any of the elite teams, but we have yet to lose to a team not currently sitting in a playoff spot. I don't think that's going to change. Hennes struggles in the redzone this season will be a welcomed return compared to Thigpens inability to even get first downs. You CAN win games with field goals at least.
It's cracking me up completely to hear people state the running game wasn't working against the Bears. 6 attempts! LMAO....... It's not like we were down by 21 or even 14 where teams have to give up on the run, the game was within 2 scores late into the 3rd. Absolute absurdity that the run was abandoned. Henning is an idiot.
Kind of hard to run the ball when you can't even get a first down. If you're stopped on first down with the run or pass its 2 and 10, etc not hard to see how we couldn't run considering we couldn't get first downs and were down basically the entire game.
Maybe we couldn't get a first down because we became one dimensional with a 3rd string QB. I'm sorry but to me this conversation is absurd. We were down by 3 points the first quarter. 6 points in the second. That's a one drive deficit with one TD taking the lead. Hardly such a mountain to completely give up an entire facet of offense. We were down 9 points deep into the 3rd. Still only a 2 possession game and some of you are lauding an OC freaking out and deciding to put the entire game on the shoulders of a 3rd string QB?
To be devil's advocate, why even run the ball when the passing game is on total cruise control? Seriously- why would you not want to throw it all game long when your #3 QB is in, blindside protector is injured, and #1 WR is out..... with a FA rookie coming in to replace him? I'm not sure why it's even being debated against. (sigh)
Not to point out the obvious..... but why are you giving the passing game a free pass to continue doing absolutely nothing vs the Bears while condemning the ground game even though it was no less productive and the score wasn't dictating constant passing situations? I'd love to hear from anyone what it was our passing game was doing so well that dictated that we continue throwing more than running.
''nothing to see here''.......lol...''.Henning is century village bound''..Put the old horse down, lol...''see ya on the other side'' dan henning
this season has been a total offensive disappointment. can't wait to end it & get on with a new direction
Are you speaking of the Deerfield Beach "Century Village"? If so....... Maybe I'll catch him trying to steal sugar packets from the Wendy's across the street.
Friend lmeister3: unfortunately, we've been there, done that the questions have been answered, no more surprises, it is what it is now, what to do for the rest of the season with a ship adrift at sea in need of repair?
l worry about the kid starting this game though. A bad knee, O Line shot, Brandon Marshall out, an OC that is all over the place...... just seems like a recipe for disaster for him.
I feel the same way. I'd almost rather not see him start and risk further injury..... or an entirely different injury altogether.
Not to mention further damage to his confidence. He's already been horribly mishandled IMO. Now he's getting put in charge of a much worse team than he started off with beginning the year. On the other hand though it's a chance for him to show some cajones and show that he can be a difference maker........ If they let him........
