Do you believe the Dolphins can win? Do you feel they have no chance? List your reasons why.

Looking back at that Monday Night game against the Colts two things jump out at me.

    1. Drew Brees could have a field day against Gibril Wilson. That particular matchup is really going to be key.

    2. Long sustained drives will keep the Saints offense on the sideline. If we can do that I believe we can win.

Control the clock and keep Brees on the sideline.
Keep Wilson on the sideline too.

I believe the Dolphins can win every game if they execute the gameplan and the refs dont try to #### us over.

I agree. We must have ball control just like we had versus the Colts, except we take advantage of opportunities to score. We could win this game. We need to be at out best and we can't make mistakes or penalties. It won't be easy but we could get the job done.

Sure the Raiders just beat the eagles of course we CAN win its just a very tall order...Saints right now are the best team in football imo..I expect our excellent coaching staff to have a great gameplan for sunday but can we execute it well enough to win...thats the question.

The Dolphins Have to play a great game of "keep away" they also have to disquise and mix up coverages and figure out a way to get pressure in Brees face...If all those thing happen we have a decent shot.. if not it could be embarassing but they have enough class not to "patriot" the dolphins if it gets ugly.

Your question is different than your poll.

I believe the Dolphins can win. In fact I think any team in the NFL can beat any other team any week.

However, I think the Dolphins will lose to the Saints this week, due to our questionable secondary.

If we can force them to play our game then yes, we can beat them. Brees is a great QB, the less time he's on the field the better off we are. I hope we can hire that pigeon from the Raiders game to help our secondary out.

Can we YES, any given sunday.. I mean who predicted the Raiders to Beat Philadelphia?

Is it likely... No. However I hold out hope on a few fronts and I have a gameplan that can enable us to win the game. but ill make a short post here about it..

First we need to keep Bree's off the field. We need an Offensive mindset like we did against Indy. keep Bree's on the BENCH.. Which translate it RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN the ball..

Once they crowd the line we HAVE to make a few long passes and catch the defense off guard.

Secondly on defense we MUST BLITZ HEAVY. Im talking about at least 2 Blit'z ever 4 downs.. We have to come from everywhere. We can not afford to give Drew any time in that pocket to pick apart our secondary.. We need to give the rookies some support as well..

Im not 100% sure but I think the game is in Miami so maybe if the weather is bad it plays to our advantage with the run...

I give us a 50-50 shot... I think we can I think we can...

Echo previous posts. Yes we CAN win, but whether we WILL is a different question.

It would help out chances greatly if Brees suddently turned into a turnover machine ... LOL. Anything short of that, its going to be a tall order.

of course we 'can' win ... but we must:

1- not have more than 1 turnover (really none, but we can probably survive 1)

2- we must control the clock (minimum of 35:25), which means run - then pass

3- must score more than 30+ points ... more like 35 to have a chance.

Pretty much signing on with everyone else...if Miami controls the clock they can win. The key is going to be keeping NO's offense off the field as much as possible.

Another key will be actually getting the ball in the endzone and not taking field goals. If I remember correctly Miami kicked 3 field goals against Indianapolis (this game is pretty much an exact replica of that). If Miami converted even one of those drives into a TD Miami would have scored 27 points and either forced overtime or just needed a FG to win on the final drive instead of a TD. Now just take that same approach to that game, apply it to NO, and score a TD on one of the FG drives and Miami can win.

In all, my keys are controlling the clock and not settling for FGs.

Also as a final rant...the addition of Henne's long ball can go a long way in winning this game. If anyone watched the NO-Giants game, NO can have the ball run on them. With Henne's ability to stretch the field and his performances so far the Saints will have to honor that. Then as a result the running lanes will begin to open. With Miami being the top rushing team in the league I have no doubt that they can run and now with Henne's stretching the defense it only makes this team better. Also if Henne plays like he did vs. the NYJ, passing the ball, Miami has an offense that can put up points themselves.

In the end this game is winnable...but even I admit the odds are against us and its an uphill battle. I have faith the team can win and they have the talent...plus two weeks rest and preparation never hurts (plus remember the Parcells-Ireland-Sparano era is 1-0 coming off bye weeks). The Saints are a great team though and can beat anyone. Honestly the pessimistic Fin fan in me that always sees the Fins blow big/important games feels the Saints are too good and will win...but because of all the factors I mentioned and Miami being at home I give Miami a 50% chance of winning which is a lot more than I gave a couple weeks ago.

I think if we tighten up the secondary a bit and not be so generous on those long pass plays, we stand a very good chance! That was Manning's "magic" - lack of a secondary on our part. And maybe our defense could actually try tackling some one this week - as in wrapping their arms around the guy instead of just bumping into them trying to knock them down. If we change these and everything else stays status quo, I really think we'll be surprising the Saints come Sunday!

He's been much better since the Colts game but you might be on to something there.

If the Giants couldn't pressure Brees then I don't know who can. However I'll tell you what I could see happening. If JT, Porter, or Wake could get a sack on a critical 3rd down then that would mean one less drive for the Saints. It could end up being the difference. Sacks on 1st and 2nd down are going to be pretty much meaningless in this game. In fact I would love it if they didn't even celebrate unless its a sack on 3rd down.

I like your thinking. I've been calling for more blitzes for weeks now. It always seems to work when we do.

    The game is in Miami.

i don't think blitzing is a real option for us ... especially against a good team ... we were marginally successful against the JESTS, and their line just isn't that good.

blitzing will likely get us nowhere but getting burnt by NO ... instead, we need to find a way to cover Shockey and the middle of the field.

    Yes WE CAN!

But we have to play the best game we have all season long and be even better in the areas that are already working. We can't kill ourselves with stupid mistakes and penalties. Our secondary has to play lights out, not meaning that they aren't going to give up some plays.

If we can keep the score tight into the 4th quarter, showing that we can control the tempo of the game, we have a very good chance. But if we have to score lots of points to keep up with them, we are dust. Our offense doesn't score fast, at least it hasn't shown it greatly, to keep up.

This is a real yard stick game for us. If we win, major upset. If we lose, but keep it tight to the end, a victory in some aspects, considering they spanked the Giants.

Turnovers could be a major factor. I am loving that Sean Smith draft pick more than ever right now.

Totally agree. If the Saints score on their opening drive and we answer with a field goal then we're in trouble right off the bat.

Another good point. The bye week was huge for the Saints against the Giants. Maybe it will be huge for us against the Saints. :knucks:

Trying to talk myself into this...it's in Miami, on grass, the Saints just beat the Giants and have the Falcons coming up, everyone's telling them they are the best in the NFL (which they are), so they might not be completely focused on this game. We have the great running attack, Henne might continue to surprise...

But it's really hard to imagine that Brees won't absolutely torch our feeble secondary. So put me down for a likely loss.

Oh, and people who say we need to blitz a lot: take a look at the Colts' last touchdown drive against us. The one that lasted 32 seconds.

While I understand and agree about our need to blitz and have it work, it could be very dangerous, because Brees will see it and just dump off a screen or to Bush, who can run.

The key to this game, defensively HAS to be our secondary. If those guys can keep coverage, we take away one of Brees' biggest weapons. Our run defense should be able to keep Bush in check.

I'm not confidant we will win, but I think if we play well and play our game versus their game, we CAN win. This Saints team is VERY talented, probably moreso than the Colts we were barely beaten by. If our Safeties made plays in that game, we'd be 3-2, instead of 2-3.

I think we'll be able to establish our type of run/wildcat/power football game against the Saints Defense, and be successful there. But whether we win this game, or lose it, will rest heavily on the performance of our defense, and most specifically our ability to cover the middle and stop the big play with our safeties.

Some of ya'll gotta stop puttin the saints on a pedastal...Their a football team with a great qb, a suspect defense, and average backs....

we have'nt been out physicaled in any game this year, in fact you could make a legitimate arguement that we've beaten most of the teams up we've played, made some terrible mental errors, have'nt put all phases of the game together, and have allowed some phenominal individual plays to take place..

If i was a saints fan i would be worried about how the hell your gonna stop our oline, with our two supremely talented backs, running in that formation.

If we get beat by a great qb, so be it, but thats about their only shot they have at this game as well.

Were a matchup nightmare for them as well.

The Saints D has been good, but they haven't seen let alone stopped the wildcat before. Especially the Ronnie Brown run wildcat.

Yes we can win this game. And yes i think we will win in dramatic fashion.

People who EXPECT a blowout for them are going to be dissapointed..we will be the most physical team they have faced and its probably going to be a shock to them...we need to carry that momentum as long as we can..the Jest figured they were a physical football team (they are) but didnt realise what a nasty bunch of maulers the Dolphins really are.. and we kept coming and coming...If the Saints dont jump out early we have a good shot.

    We will not win.

    Reasons:

    1. Chad Henne is going to have a horrible game.
    2. We are going to abandon the run after we're down by 17.
    3. Drew Brees is too good.

Sounds like the majority here are overly cautious with our team. Maybe rightfully so,but I agree with CNC66, "why not us"? Why cant we beat the Saints? Hopefully we learned something from the Colts game. Time consumimng offensive drives by us are great, but the key is to stop them from scoring 90 seconds later.

The blitz against Drew would be a good idea from the Saints perspective. Heading into the bye he was the top rated QB against the blitz with a QB rating of 123.7. I have not seen what it is after the Giants game but I know it's not lower.

    We can win...

    1. Win the turnover battle
    2. Run the ball effectively
    3. Win in time of possession
    4. Keep the Saints under 30 points
    5. Be physical
