Can Tyler Thigpen be the next Tony Romo?

God I hope not. Romo is the most over rated QB in the entire league. What exactly has he accomplished in the NFL which would make Dolphin fans want a QB like him. I would much prefer a QB who can lead the team to TD.s and limit turnovers. Dallas can have Romo. The Dolphins don't need him or anyone who plays like him.

If I had to guess it would be the speed of the game. I can go out and throw a football around, under no pressure, with some pretty good accuracy. However, when you throw in a pass rush, defenders covering WR's, weather, time clocks, crowd noise etc etc etc, I would assume my % would drop off until (and if) I got used to it. So far, Sanchez hasn't been able to adapt to the NFL and it has affected his accuracy. You would expect a rookie to be inaccurate. However, Sanchez's accuracy hasn't improved from last year to this year. That should worry his fans.

In short, some people are accurate under pressure and some just aren't and never will be.

What Sanchez is though, is a product of surrounding him with weapons, look at their Wr corps, their Te their Rb's, and even an inaccurate Qb can succeed if given the tools.

And no matter what the media tells us, it's not "Sanchez" who is succeeding. His team is succeeding. Sure, he's a part of that team, but all he pretty much does is make sure not to lose it for the team. Which, as is the case for the Jests, they need a QB like that and not one who can carry them. And if other teams DB's could catch better he may have actually lost a few for them this year.

Not to turn this into a Sanchez thread, but he is playing so much better than last year, especially in big spots. The last two weeks he has been very good when they needed him to be. I know his completetion his subpar, and it's hard to explain, but when I watch him he looks like the most accurate inaccurate passer I have ever seen. He makes so many nice throws where he threads it into tight coverage. Then he will go and blow some easy toss to LT on a checkdown.

I think he has what it takes to be a winning QB in the league. I love his footwork. He buys himself so much time in the pocket. And when he needs to run, he can. I'd love to see his completion % around 60, and I think it will get there. Eli Manning had 3+ straight years of completing less than 57% of his passes, and for the past 2+ years he is over 60. So I think a QB can improve in that area.

Good luck with the Bears, guys.

I completely disagree. He is very much part of their success. He thrown for 299 and 300 in the past two games and they won them on the last possession. Is he carrying the team ala Peyton? Hell no. But he is not Trent Dilfer either.

What does Sanchez have that Miami doesn't, other than Keller? You have Brandon Beast Marshall. Is he not better than anyone we have? I think our WR's as a group is a push. Same with our RB's and OLine. Then only thing NY has is a better pass catching TE on offense.

I, for one, hope he isn't another Romo. Romo is a choke artist. Sure, he makes plays with his feet, but he makes some seriously bone-headed plays at some of the most inopportune moments. In close games - big games, Romo finds a way to lose. Wouldn't want him, nor would I want a "clone" of him.

Back on topic - I agree. I think Romo is overrated and comes up tiny in the big spot.

You mean aside from the 118 TDs to 62 INTs, the 64 percentage, the 8.0 AVG and the 95 rating? Yeah, we don't need a quarterback like Tony Romo.

All of those numbers sound great. But at crunch time, Romo loses football games.

Jake did not really scramble Adamp, he more left the pocket and flung the ball downfield ala Jay Schroeder.

I'd say no, Thiggy can at least run, Delhomme was Henne slow, and Thiggy's arm isn't up to Delhomme's when he was healthy.

good point about the speed. maybe you're right and thats a bad comparison. i think what they share though is the same reckless abandon but physically they are a nit different

This. It is more than just stats. Some guys are winners. Some aren't. Romo isn't.

No but it would have proved that Thigpen could be the next Romo according to many posters.

Poster: Yeah I know he sucked but he screwed up that hold just like Romo did. Lets see what he has!
