That could be one reason. It seems that the bold part is what this staff covets.

Also, some college programs can lay claim to the titles of "Quarterback U" or "Linebacker U," but Michigan State can call itself "Wide Receiver U." Cunningham left college as one of MS's career greats. In 2011 McNutt almost broke a school record set by Derrell Johnson-Koulianos?? Cunningham has a better resume.

Cunningham is likely aware of those who came before him at Michigan State. After all, he broke most of their records. This was probably an important factor in choosing Cunningham over McNutt.

Scouts only watch limited film on any one prospect. Occasionally a coach will mention something a player does well or poorly and reference a specific game or situation. This helps you save time and figure out what film to watch. As a scout it makes you look really smart if you back up your report with a specific example. Really it's not that much different than posting. If one poster tells you a player never goes through his progressions and another poster tells you the same player does a good job of going through his progressions and then shows you an example of that player going from his primary to his second, third and fourth option, who are you more likely to think knows what he's talking about. Scouts, just like anybody here, often just spit out trite sayings to describe players. Often it's no more than what you just heard somebody else say about the player. The more reports you have to produce, the more likely you are to fall into that trap.

but didn't show much in terms of elusiveness or the speed to turn short and intermediate passes into big plays.

I would probably use that description for BJ. IMO McNutt showed greater ability to separate using both his body and route running while BJ tended to just use his body. Obviously, that's just my opinion, though. As for the WR U part, that could be a factor. I know that some evaluators will use a school's reputation as a tie breaker or a compelling factor.

Not sure what your thanking when the post doesn't proves anyones opinion to be more correct than the other, IMO, the post that Rafs wrote is in general practice, our situation is much more unique and rare, so like I said, if you think our Gm and scout staff did not consult thoroughly with our new Big twelve coaching staff, about prospect that we were gonna draft from the big twelve well, you just keep on thinking that Dup, And I'll keep on thinking my way, and no one will know unless it comes out later.

He was actually a scout, so he gave information based on actual knowledge of the situation.

Also, what in the hell are you talking about. Where did you get I thought that?

I know he was..I was under the impression that you didn't think that the intel from the newly acquired big twelve coaches on the newly acquired big twelve players could of been a determining factor in their acquisitions?, aplogigize if I misinterpreted.

That is not what I meant. It was opinion that whoevers job it is to gather all the information to get it from the coaches, leaving the scouts to be free to look at other players or to gather their own opinions and see if the opinions match up.

The intel from these coaches was instrumental in our ability to draft players based on college performance, however this intel will not benefit us unless our draft acquisitions translate well to the pro game. I hope in 2 years I can say that this was our best draft in a decade.

Was this the player who played so well in the 2010 Title game?

I seem to recall a DT outplaying Orakpo in that game?

There is no proof that any input from any of our coaches who worked in the Big 12 last season was the determining factor in any of the Big 12 players we drafted or signed as UDFAs. It may have. It may not have. I personally just can't agree with us not drafting Tannehill or Randall, or signing Fuller if we'd had no "intel" from Sherman, Turner, or Taylor.

Randall has been ranked as high as the first round all the way down to undrafted status. He went from a legit 2nd round grade in 2010 to lower round grade in 2011. I am not sure of all the reasons.
