Good. This is just the kind of stuff that needs to make its way back to Cam.

    Next up: 20 sacks if there's a 2011 season.

    Exactly!

I hope they keep doubting this man...

He's talented, smart, and motivated. Add in some nay-sayers and I think he's going to serving up a lot of crow this next season!

sports writers don't play, so "sleeper" in the fan and media's eyes, sure, but not much relevance on Sundays. He has to have two good years before he starts getting notice. That's just how it is.

Clay Matthews ahead of Cam Wake shows the power of marketing and self-generating hype. In 2010, Wake was much more efficient at generating pass rush pressure than Matthews.

Pretty sad that, nationally, Miami’s best player is still perceived to be Jake Long.

I think Wake is at least on equal footing with Long in terms of skill level at their respective positions. But pass rusher is sexier than offensive line play, so naturally the media should gravitate toward Wake… but they haven’t. That’s why it’s sad. It reflects a particularly exceptional level of laziness in the media.

Wake is a better run defender than Matthews. Neither are particularly noteworthy when teams run at them, but Wake might be the best edge rusher in the league at making plays from the backside. Teams will frequently try not to block the defender on the backside of a run away from the outside guy, and Wake has done a fine job of catching players for a loss who are held up at all.

Gotta be consistent for a period of time before you're perceived the best player. I still don't see how its sad when Jake Long is pretty damn good.

To me, it’s just an indication of media laziness. Nothing against Jake Long, just a revealing commentary on the mindset and (lack of) diligent research on the part of the football media.

Amazes me constantly how football is the most popular sport in the US but the quality of analysis is Pee Wee level.

Jake Long SHOULD be the most popular player the Miami Dolphins have, and frankly he IS. Go look at the Madden cover voting. One Dolphin and its Big Jake.

Also I think your a lil nuts to think Wake is as good of a pass rusher as Long is a LT.

Wake may be on his way, but as of right now its not even a question imo.

I don't think its laziness, I think it finally shows that they have a damn clue about something other than statistics.

Actually, IMO, our best and most popular player should be the quarterback. Anything else is settling.

I don’t think this is proof of that at all.

??? Well if we ever get an All Pro QB that will make a great arguement....but as of right now obviously we dont have that option.

Like I said… everything else is settling. Don’t know what’s so controversial about that.

I thought Wake was very good against the run as the season wore on. Coverage is where he still has some way to go.

Jake Long played injured all season long, but he's still our best player IMO. He is the complete and total package at his position. The elite of elite. No one else on our team can say that right now.

As the number 1 pick everyone expected Long to be special
and he has been but who ever thought
An Undrafted free agent would make the pro bowl

John Denny is elite at his position...the best of the best
6 straight years without missing a game
can't remember the last time he had a bad snap

I agree. I think Jake long is easily the best player on our team. Probably the best O-Lineman in the NFL right now. Cam Wake is awesome in his own right, but he needs at least one more great season leading the NFL in sacks, or close, while improving on the rest of his game before we can cement him into Jake Long's category.

Cam Wake is a great story, if told correctly..If somebody was smart, they would have followed him around in canada, training his body like a supreme athlete that he is, with no distraction's, The hunger to get to the top, and accomplishing it, in such a short amount of time, unbelievable story.

Those dorks dont watch the games, the plays, if they did, they would know that he played the run very well, sometimes with one arm one hand stuck to his opponents neck, while disengaging and making the play on the back with the other, he shadowed well in space, made good instinctive decisions,He was aware on the football field, with eyes up all the time, he was readin... Shoot, just wait til he just gets to react with all that fast twitch sh%$ hes got...

I saw a really good football player last year, not just a great athlete.
