Team has waived/injured RB Cameron Marshall as per Miami Dolphins (@MiamiDolphins), looks like he won't get his shot against Jacksonville

Not really surprised, especially with how good the other backs have looked.

He's probably sitting on his couch with his phone handy, waiting for the Dolphins to call this time of year. No other team recognizes his talent. They are fools.

IIRC, he was injured much of Camp so far, sucks for him and hope he lands another opportunity to make a league roster.

Can Justice play on the left? I thought I remembered him being a RT. I'm worried about the depth behind Martin

Winston Justice is a left tackle only.

I think you take a chance on Jared Gaither. You have to realize that all options are sub-optimal at this point so you might as well take the one that has a high end potential positive payoff.

i just saw ratings from PFF for the dallas game and surprisingly sam brenner was the best rated OL with a 1.6 in front of pouncey with a 1.1 rating, martin had a .5 rating, garner with a - 3.1 and thomas with a - 3.4 were the worst

When they said Winston, I think they meant Eric Winston, who signed with the Cards a couple of weeks ago.

I saw those ratings and some of them were questionable to say the least. Some of the OL ratings were questionable and then on defense you have David Hinds with the best rating among all defenders when in actuality he looked to me like one of the worst. DeAndre Presley with essentially a neutral grade, and Tracy Roberston as the worst player on defense that day also raise an eyebrow. Just all across the board very strange ratings.

One thing I will say in favor of their ratings is, clearly they have something they want to see in Sam Brenner. I remember hearing from Eric Galko (Optimum Scouting) that a scout told him Sam Brenner is the kind of player that plays 10 years in the NFL. Galko is a Dolphins fan and it wouldn't surprise me if it were a Dolphins scout that told him this. Brenner has backing within the organization and it becomes apparent when you see that BY FAR he had the most snaps of anyone on offense (60 snaps, next closest had 43 snaps) and after the game this week during practice the coaches seemed to refuse to do the obvious thing and move Dallas Thomas to left guard while simultaneously bumping Sam Brenner up to 2nd string at that position. I don't know if we can say they refused to toss Thomas in at left guard BECAUSE they wanted to get a look at Brenner there...but it's a curious coincidence when you consider Brenner's positive grade as well as his team-leading snap count in the preseason game.

I'm glad they did their stats on the game. Snap counts are convenient to have at your disposal. I always like seeing the pressure stats and the coverage/reception stats, etc.

From the first game, Chad Bumphis ran 33 pass routes and had 5 receptions for 85 yards. That is 1 reception for every 6.6 routes run, and he averaged 2.6 yards per route run.

Yeah he's very possibly a player the coaches are a lot more high on than the local media has indicated thus far.

a shame about Cameron Marshall. Liked the way he looked in those highlights. Yes I know that sounds obvious... We might have to bring in another running back, as we are pretty thin to begin with (as the coaches want to see what we have).

I think we're fine at running back, if a little inexperienced. I also believe the team will snag a cut in the next few weeks just for a little cushion, but all-in-all, I'm not worried about the RB position.

you'd be worried if one of them went down with injury... ala our qb position. Just from a functional standpoint here in the preseason.

Well, tbh Thigpen needs a look at Rb as well.

Psyched about a game being on tonight, bummed that the "hunt for the white pill" commences.

    Such is life.

Noto good enough this year P13, they really need to stick him on offense and see what he can do as DTrain can go down easily, Gray if he makes the roster may not even be active, and Miller is an unknown.

Basically, Thigpen is the #3 Rb, have to know what you have in him.

I think the coaches will want to use this opportunity to get Miller, Thomas, Gillislee and Gray plenty of touches in the preseason so they can get an evaluation.

One thing that sticks out in my mind from last year was how they ended up cutting that CFL guy and when they did it on Hard Knocks he was like "You didn't even give me a chance to carry the ball!" Jeff Ireland tried to cover his tracks by saying there's plenty of practice footage on all of the players but the fact of the matter is the practice snaps are not useful in evaluating tailbacks as you'd like to think, because you need to see them get hit and do some hitting themselves before you know what you've got. You can't break a tackle if there's no tackling. But they just had too many tailbacks (Bush, Thomas, Miller, Slaton, Messam, plus Lane being tried as a ball carrier) and they couldn't get them all carries. So it wouldn't surprise me if instead of going after a 5th guy they decided it might be better to keep it to only 4 guys.

Better than Baker would be bringing back Kory Sheets! Just got CFL's top player of July, he's tearing it up for the RoughRiders!

Not sure he'd want to leave the CFL at this point in the CFL season... can a player even do that (leave during the CFL season)? But I always liked Sheets... good to hear he's doing well somewhere.

No, he is under contract, maybe even for next season as well.

They closed the option window a couple of years ago, 3 yr deal, after yr #2 they can opt out of their CFL deal.

To me, it makes little sense to not play Thigpen, he'll be on the roster, you pretty much have to see what he can do as a Rb, if they do not play him at Rb imo they are making a misjudgment.
