Being reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Panthers are expected to outright cut their former MVP today. At 31 years old, Cam should have an easy 4-5 quality years left. Injuries in recent years are a concern, but he's had most of a year to rest and heal up. Imagine taking the BPA at #5? Or trading down to get even more picks for 2020 and 2021? Miami could have a good team to put around Cam with a solid draft. You could still grab Tua or Herbert at #5 as insurance in case Cam does not work out. The best of both worlds. I think the idea of signing Cam is worth looking into, assuming he does not want 30+ million dollars per year. He won't cost any draft picks, so that is another plus.
