They also wear different jerseys and shoe sizes. The down and distance was not the same either. But ball security is ball security. They both screwed up.
There is a difference between making young decisions that turn out bad, this dude is grossly unhumble at his age.
Loss at home against the Seahawks and a struggling rookie Qb. This is what he deserves..A huge does of humility, and like our oline coach once said, if he doesn't get it then, then it's on him.. IMO, he needs to change his whole approach, acknowledge that he's acted a fool, said stupid things, disrespectful things, then work on the definition if humility and leader.
Watched the game yesterday and my goodness has Newton regressed, he looked like cow flop fellas. Slow reads, hesitancy to pass or run, poor ball placement, he looked turrible.
Yeah, it's not very reassuring when your alleged "franchise" QB offers up a suggestion box. So far he's yet to show the thing between his little ears is good enough to mentally handle the NFL game with any consistency. I originally thought Carolina should've drafted AJ Green and then come back this year with Andrew Luck (or even RG3), and I still stand by that.
If he only kept his bad performance on the field, and wouldnt continue to compound it with his post-game press conferences this season wouldnt be as bad for him as he is making it. His mouth and brain are costing him more than his arm and legs so far.
Eh, there is the NFL learning curve, Defenses adjust and his easy Td's running the ball are being taken away. FWIW, this is one of the reasons why I'm a bit excited by what they are doing with Tannehill, he has to make decisions in the pocket instead of going for the low hanging fruit ala VY. NOT comparing Newton to Vince Young, merely saying his second year is just a learning process.
His maturity will definitely need to come along, but he still has plenty of physical talent. That team around his is awful though - aside from Smith there really is nothing. That running game was supposed to be a pillar and has been terrible, the line hasn't been good and that defense is atrocious overall. That doesn't even get into Ron Rivera as a ****ty coach, and I think the gameplans this year for them have not been as good as last year, and are not helping him adjust as defenses adjust to him. He's in a bad spot, but needs to step up and turn himself around at least, be a positive leader and drop the mopey thing. I don't think he needs to be humble so much as he needs to be a positive leader and to be the change he wants. He is the franchise leader, it starts with him.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...ton-reportedly-targeted-at-pro-bowl-last-year " Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com reports that AFC Pro Bowl players went after Newton especially hard in last season's game because of how the Carolina Panthers quarterback acted during the week. "He was a total ---hole," one unnamed AFC player told Prisco. "Who did he think he was? He acted like the big s---. Here he was at his first game and he acted like he was the star. Guys didn't like that." I guess when I said predraft that "his lack of humility is going to get him in big trouble, that he will eventually put his foot in his mouth one to many times"..wasn't as ridiculous as most told me that it was.. Like I said a million times, dude better check himself, he's gotta lotta work to do to become a humble man, and it's had a major negative impact on his career.
