Couldn't be more wrong but whatever. I would rather hav this POS who can play football over Henne who cannot but says the right things.
He might be an extremely talented athlete with a big arm capable of making big plays and winning some games, but he's not very talented between the ears and will cost you games b/c of it. Does it matter if a player oohs and aahs you if he lacks the consistency & great decision-making needed during a 16 game season (and subsequent playoffs)?
The only one who thinks he's lacking between the ears is you. He isn't. He can handle the NFL just fine. He has 14 interceptions this season. His decision making isn't bad. While he is inconsistent, he's also a rookie. The fact that he's a rookie who has 26 combined touchdowns and only 13 interceptions is amazing. Like I said, we would be fortunate to have him as our QB. He could flame out, but the chances of that happening are slim. The sky is the limit for Cam Newton.
why are you posting stats?, I'am not taking anything away from his game, we just have different opinions on intelligence.. Why are you defending such a doucherat?, cause you liked his game coming out?, its apparent that he is a disrepectful, un humble, arrogant, spoiled rotten brat. I wouldn't settle for his attitude, because he's got a great skillset..
Because I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to ToddPhins, who was talking about his play. You can think he is a douche, but he isn't. Keep saying it till your blue in the face, but you'll still be wrong every time you say it. He's not a douche, he's not stupid, he is extremly talented at the most important position in the game.
we'll see if his game can overcome his mouth and brain...That's why I didn't want him on our team, and thats what will be his demise...He didn't dissapoint me...Of couse I could be wrong in this case and he goes on to win superbowls, but thats not the point here, talent sometimes overcomes everything, just that in his case, he doesn't deserve it.and I'll be rooting hard against him.
Yeah. "when". I'd love to hear your rationale on why he is a "consistent" passer. You must watch the ESPN highlights and not the actual games themselves. Let's see here. In Cam's past 7 games: Week 11: 4 INTs vs Detroit. (2 INTs in the final 2 minutes to give Lions the win) Week 10: 6 of first 7 drives vs Tenn were 3 & outs (one led to a Mariani punt return TD) and one 4 & out. 2nd Half: started with a 4 & out, followed by a missed short field TD opportunity, followed by a 3 & out, followed by INT leading to Titans TD. Week 8: 2 fumbles led to 2 Viking TDs in 24-21 loss. Week 6: 3 INTs vs Atlanta (1 on Atlanta's 10 costing Panther's a TD; 1 on Carolina's 39 that led to a Falcon TD) Consistency you say? you said it. You must be sticking to some preconceptions to actually believe he's consistent or is already an established, top tier QB. If Cam's consistent then I'd like to know what guys like Rodgers, Brady and Brees are. Cam looks good for a rookie, but that's it. If he looks much the same 3 years from now, he'll be an average NFL QB. This is where brains and great decision-making become pivotal. He hasn't proven he has either.
No, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. So did Cam cheat numerous times just to see if he couldn't get caught? Is that it? Giving Cam's mental ability & decision making the benefit of the doubt is like saying Chad Pennington poses no injury risk. The one minor obstacle standing between Cam and the sky is how much air may or may not be in his head.
He was caught cheating 3 times at UF and basically booted for it. Talent means nothing at QB w/o brains & decision-making to back it up, 2 traits that Cam has yet to prove he has. Not only does the need to cheat make Cam stupid, but not learning from his mistakes by going back to the well 2 more times makes him even stupider. He's arguably one of if not the dumbest QB in the NFL. His utter lack of intelligent speech and multiple cheating efforts endorse this. I don't have to prove that Cam may be a complete idiot; Cam does a good job of that all on his own.
He was young. Calm down. Football wise, no, he is not stupid. I understand they are simplifying things now for him, but he had a shorter off season than most Quaterbacks of the past, and he's still playing well. I have no doubt as they add more to the offense, he will be able to pick it up. I do find it funny that you still hate him, though. You were so convinced he was going to fail. Now your only argument is you think he's stupid. Nice. Would you still take Henne over Newton?
And yet, he's a lock to win the Rookie of the Year. Again, why isn't he playing Tight End like you predicted?
You said it yourself. They simplified things for him, so you can't say that football wise he's not lacking in the mental department. Picking up the offense isn't the same thing as running it on the field and making all the proper game adjustments & decisions needed to become successful and maintain consistency. What do you mean my only argument is "I think he's stupid"? A. He has yet to actually succeed. The only thing he's shown is promise & inconsistency, but that promise means nothing if he doesn't develop (which is not a guarantee). B. The main argument I used for why I questioned & doubted his long-term NFL success is the same argument I'm still using regarding his consistency & long term success. I don't hate Cam. I simply don't like him as the face of a franchise, b/c whether you like it or not, there ARE people whom he will inevitably annoy if he already hasn't. Out of 50 people, at least 10 are likely not fond of him b/c that's just the kind of guy Cam is; you either like him or you don't. Considering there's 53 men on a roster, that could lead to problems if 10 of those share the same lack of fondness. I'm all about building cohesiveness and a team that truly bonds together; IMO that's one of the most important goals of a team. IMO, Cam's personality poses a potential threat to this as he can be a controversial guy. Meanwhile, the Eagles have proven that all the talent in the world mean little if the team isn't playing as a team.
He also had to learn the offense in a short off season. Agree to disagree, then. Like I said, I believe the chances of him not continuing to develop are very slim. He's going to be good, if not great.
ROY. That's a stat award. Did Carolina draft him to win a ROY or did they draft a QB hoping he'll lead them to Super Bowls? Until Cam becomes a playoff contender and develops consistency & better decision making, a ROY award means little. Nice straw argument, anonymous. I never predicted he'd be a TE. I joked about him being a TE b/c I doubted his mental ability to become a consistent, successful, long term QB. LONG TERM. Plus I found him annoying, just as many have. You're talking like he's already emerged as an elite QB. He hasn't.
You're talking as if he's peaked. He hasn't. He's a ROOKIE. And he's on pace for 30 touchdowns and 4,000 yards this season. Like I said, agree to disagree. You'll be proven wrong again when he's successful in the future.
After reading this thread, I almost wish the Panthers would trade for Dez Bryant just so I could see the reaction here.
Yeah--- total yards & total TDs, not passing yards & passing TDs. That should be taken with a grain of salt b/c, while Cam's rushing stats are up, Williams & Stewart's production is down, combining for only 1100 yards & 6 TDs, where as in 2008 & 2009 they averaged 2300 yards, 23 TDs, and a 5.2 ypc behind QB play that averaged less than an 80 QBR. All you're basically doing is having a redistribution of numbers. So even with Stewart, Williams, and Steve Smith healthy and the addition of Olsen & Shockey, the Panthers' offense is producing the same that it averaged in 08 & 09 with a mix of Delhomme & Matt Moore at QB.
The 4,000 yards is passing yards. You couldn't be more wrong. He's operating a top 10 offense. The last two seasons, they've had one of the worst, if not the worse offenses in the NFL. And who did they add? Shockey? Olsen? Not much. This just makes his success that much more astonishing.
I don't see that at all. If I were on the team I would either agree with him b/c I saw the same thing or be one of those that seemed to accept losing.
I'am not saying the guy can't play ball, I agreed with the minority that had him going #1, liking and respecting who he is, as a man is my only beef.
. I see your point and it will probably work, idk, and thats probably because he is the alpha male, with the body and strength to stick up to the pack..I guess if you wanna look at him in a bad *** sense, {the dude thinks and is vicariously living his life in the jungles of africa...lol, thats pretty bad *** I guess.lol} I could see that angle, just like, this mother fu%$er is cutthroat..but, when it comes down to it, my belief in humility makes me hate the way he conducts his strength... Lions are prics in the jungle...They eat other baby cubs...lol
He is? They rank 22nd in turnovers per drive and 25th in INTs per drive, with Cam's turnovers leading to 55 points. I'm not sure that supports an actual top 10 offense. Ummm, just for a recap, Carolina currently has: -a HOF caliber #1 WR with 10,000 yards and 57 TDs. -2 starting, first round TEs with 8500 yards & 59 TDs (Carolina uses 2 TE sets heavily, remember) -2 first round RBs with 8000 yards & 59 TDs. -a talented, sophomore, 3rd round WR who caught 38 passes for 468 yards as a rookie. Yup, that has nothing to do with anything. That group is a dream for a young QB.... or virtually any QB in that type of offense. With all that talent, perhaps their offense could be capable of greater production behind better & less inconsistent QB play. Added, Olsen & Shockey account for nearly 40% of Cam's TDs and 1/4 of his yards. Do you think that'd be possible with Rosario & King? I don't think so. Do you think Smith would have the same affect & success with Rosario & King on the field? Again, I don't think so. Cam would've likely been slobber-knockered in Carolina's battered, talent-deprived, 2010 offense.
They're 6th in yards and 8th in points, but you're not going to mention that? You only want to focus on the negative aspect of their offense and pin it on Newton? Sorry man, but your grasping for straws here. You do this all the time. Just admit that so far, you're wrong about Cam Newton.
Sorry for re-quoting this, but it just makes me chuckle when I see it. Carolina's offense primarily uses 2 TE sets. They added Olsen & Shockey to replace Rosario & King in those 2 TE sets. (That's 2/5ths of Carolina's skill positions upgraded). You also have to factor in the impact that this upgrade has on Smith, LaFell, and the rest of the offense. You of all people, being a Miami fan, should realize the impact TEs have in an offense that likes to use 2 TE sets.
Nobody's wrong OR right about Newton at this stage of his career b/c he's neither shown that he's unworthy of his #1 pick status nor has he shown that he's a legitimate, long-term, franchise QB, so get off your high horse. There's enough talent in Carolina's offense surrounding the QB that an average NFL QB should be capable of making it a top 10 scoring offense, but without the extra turnovers, so stop trying to give Cam all the credit when there's 4 1st round guys at skill positions, a future HOF WR, and a talented 3rd round WR to help boost Cam's success & production..... but they're still 4-9.
Hey Cam,I hope your team turns on your fake ***...you shouldn't be throwing 2 ints Mr. ''not on my level.''...
I will hate on your boy until your boy shows a level of humility that I respect...This is sports buddy, and I don't hate much, but he deserves it..and if he isn't man enough or old enough to figure it out on his own, then here's to someone doing it for him.
You "hate" a guy because he called out under performing teammates and doesn't have Shakespearean level language skills? This is almost as bad as Killer and Marshall.
Where is is he today, what is he sayin now, after he single handidly lost the game for his team yesterday, his turnovers were only his fault, and crucial in getting spanked 24 0 in the 2nd half.. Karma baby..
Ya know, just for a comparison..Just look how Tebow handled his sorry team when he took over, compared to how Newton is trying to raise their level of play....lol.. 2 different types of leadership...Which one would you want..
