What scares me is him saying he WANTED to open up the offense but Shannon wouldnt let him.

Yeah point made by him going out the door. Shannon not looking near as good of a coach as previous thought. Still a great recruiter, But I doubt Miami ever will be great while he is there, But thats just my opinion

Same here, can anyone who has watched the Canes lately call them a well coached team? IMO Shannon is making it up as he goes along, and even then, he is not improving at doing so...

this is exactly the same thing Coker did before he was booted. He fired a bunch of coaches and then got fired the following season.

I'm so tired of Randy Shannon. I've seen enough from this guy. He's the common denominator in all of this slide from great to mediocre.

At first glance I would agree.
However, Shannon's supposed role in keeping Nix's offense "reigned in" may show that the U is holding on to the one that needs to be subtracted.

    Time will tell.

    Come on Dub....

It's not about being a "hater".
I'm surprised you'd even go to the level of using that silly label.

    I've never ripped Shannon.
I was leary of the hire but once he was I've been excited about the buzz he had created at UM and the success he seemed to be having in recruiting.

That being said, after 2 seasons I'm beginning to see what IMO are very troubling signs that Shannon may very well be one of those great coordinators that have no business being a Head Coach. Has nothing to do with "being a hater". It's looking at the results so far both on and off the field and making a judgement.

I'm a Canes lover baby, Shannon needs to straighten himself out, or he should be gone from the giddyup.

We haven't improved, there is no leadership nor coherence on the football field, this is Year #2...and he already anointed Harris the starter for next season after two whole starts..oh joy..

Thats the point right there. Have not improved. Coaches should be able to improve every year. Next year will be the his last chance IMO.

I am also not a Shannon Hater, But I had my doubts even tho he had great recruiting class. The Gators already had their experience with a coach just like that ( Ron Zook ).

Bad use of words of my part and I apologize.

We have to give him more time to clean this up. He inherited a complete mess (very little talent, off the field problems way beyond his control (i wont get into those - but we know what they are), a broken culture on the team which Gary Ferman referred to as a disease inside the program that festered while Coker was there), yet he still managed to pull in 2 outstanding recruiting classes one of which he put together in less than a month when he was named HC. I don't think it's fair to judge him as a HC until these 2 classes become juniors and seniors and the program is filled with his kids. He brought in Bill Young to take over the D - how he got him here, I dont know but that was a great hire. The problems we saw on D this year were attributed to youth an inexperience more than anything else. Having fired both and OC and DC now in back to back seasons that he himself hired - the pressure has to be on him next season with a brutal schedule ahead. If he does not win 9-10 games then yeah I'd say his job is in jeopardy. But let's be patient considering the mess he inherited. Look at that team this past season and how many times did you see a Junior or Senior making a play that mattered? I cant think of any.

The debacle in SF was Nix's undoing and that's why he got fired. Shannon needed to get more involved there late in the game. The way that 2 min drill was handled was a joke and both are to blame, IMO.
