release QB Griese TAMPA, Fla. (AP)—Third-round draft pick Roy Miller(notes) has agreed to a four-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The defensive tackle from Texas was the 81st overall selection in the draft. His signing Monday leaves the Bucs with one unsigned pick, first-rounder Josh Freeman(notes). To make room on the roster for Miller, backup quarterback Brian Griese(notes), who started five games last season, was released. The 34-year-old has thrown for 19,440 yards, 119 touchdowns and 99 interceptions in 11 seasons with Denver, Miami, Chicago and Tampa Bay. Miller started 19 of 49 games he appeared in at Texas, finishing his career for the Longhorns with 138 tackles and 10 sacks.
Agreed, Steve. I also really like the Roy Miller drafting. He could be the guy who provides a pass rush up the middle for them. He's got good athleticism and can make plays parallel to the LOS.
I must say that I beleived Brian was good enough to whale the ball to chambers and welker that year and Brian had his hands tied behine his back just like Huard any qb that tried to try out for the qb position. actually Brian would be a good pick up should our qb mess return to its ugly form .
